SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Though some celebrity chefs do cook at their own restaurant. At Le Bernadin in NYC we saw Eric Ripert on each of our 10 lunches there. Though the last time was 6 yesrs ago and he has finally succumbed to the lure of opening other branches.

Im not sure whether they were doing the cooking, or just inspecting
We were pleasantly surprised when David Bouley came to greet us at our table (and the other diners) a few years back when we dined at his restaurant Bouley in NYC on Christmas eve 2015.
I dunno if he did any cooking but its good to see the Chefs at their restaurant.

Unfirtunately due to the Rona, Bouley is now closed but he is going down the book route

So what time should I login from Sydney to book a redemption to Europe?

Is it 9am?

So I am at SIN J SKL. I like the new SKL but you have to walk both ends to ensure that you check out all the food and drinks available. When we are there at 8pm there are plenty of seats available. However by 10pm it became a zoo.

One thing I hate there is the shower management. Was told of 1 hour wait and we got 2 buzzers. I went back there after 1 hour (my buzzer didn't light up) and I saw a dodgy traveller said to them that he just need to go there "just to get changed" and no showering, and they let him in straight away. I think he should just go to toilet to get change instead. I know once he is in the shower room he would just have a shower anyway. The lady told me that I am next.

So after an half and hour, our buzzer still didn't light up, I went back and told them that I had enough, they just offered my wife and I shower cubicles pretty much immediately. There was another lady also complaining and they let her in.

So it seems that the 1 hour wait with the buzzer is the high level queuing system, but they really prioritise showers to anyone who pushes in or complain to them. That's just wrong.

Hi guys,
I have a flight from Singapore to Melbourne (SQ 237 which departs at 1230am) in October.
If i can't get a late check out from my hotel, would i be able to check in early at Changi to drop off my luggage ? And then wander around Jewel (I am flying J class)

went back and told them that I had enough
Squeaky wheel gets the most grease I suppose. We had no issues but obviously YMMV.

Everyone should wait their turn. People who try to push ahead just make it difficult for the shower attendants - they should not be subjected to all the stress and maybe harassment. Likely the shower attendants won't complain to management - their jobs are too low on the totem pole. Just goes to show that some lounge passengers have no class.

The shower attendants also do not have control over how long people spend in the showers. They should perhaps give number already waiting ahead in queue rather than time.

Sounds like it time for a feedback to SQ. or upgrade your travel to the TPR🤣.

By chance today was the day I had down to check award loading times for flights DRW -SIN and SIN-NRT.

I am in QLD and it happened at 10am. So same for Sydney now but would be 11 am in daylight savings time.

But really, why do people fall for the "celebrity chef" hype?

Proud to say I have never watched, or been tempted to watch 'MasterChef' or any of similar genre. If any of the world's top 100 celebrity/Michelin chefs served me personally, I wouldn't know. I pay for what the tucker looks/tastes/smells like, not who was cracking open the eggs.

Have used the T2 and T3 lounges on two occasions on recent times. We actually prefer the T2 lounge, granted the T3 lounge is more impressive and you can have the chefs cook for you while you wait. However, we found the T2 lounge quieter, the air conditioning seemed better, had no wait for shower access and had better seat options that suited Mrs LP. The food and drink options were good as well , (though small range than T3).
If you’re looking for an even quieter lounge the T2 Gold Lounge didn’t appear very busy.

Years ago flying OZ via ICN, they took your BP and managed the shower queue by departure time. I felt like it worked well.

Not enough points for TPR. Then again I am generally happy with J (not a serious drinker) , and there are no 4 *F/R Savers available 😅

I will write back to SQ when my trip ends.

Anyone know what the following means? It doesn't say what flight disruption means (cancelled flight or change in plane or delayed flight) and I have a connecting SIN-SYD flight.
I'm getting the same 'flight disruption' message for a booking on SQ351 and SQ241 in J. When I go to view options, the same flights, with the same times, pop up. After I accept the 'change', I still get the flight disruption message. Very weird, but the call centre confirm all is okay.

There was an interesting program a few years ago about how Heston Blumenthal had been brought in by (I assume) BA to revise their menu - possibly in first class.. He came up with some fancy dancy ideas, a couple were for the crew to finish cooking them in midair or some such nonsense. He was on board while they were working through the menu & of course it very quickly proved unworkable. He also had an issue with food and wine in the air not tasting quite the same - correct me if I'm wrong on that point. However I don't think you could use that excuse for either the Matt Moran creation or
the cough menu created by NP

D'you know I am actually a bit disappointed to see the exact same wine lists on (I think) 3 sets of pics up-thread.

HKG/Sin, FRA/Sin and Sin/Mel - all same same, except for an additional Pauillac ex Fra to replace the Bogan. Lovely wine, but that name... not sure anyone's pointed out the Aust etymology of that word to SQ air staff, so I might contribute to the 'feedback' on 222 this Sat.

SQ don’t change the wines often. They will add an Aussie or two on Australian routes and another old word on European routes but that’s about it.

I received an email to accept the change, was originally 10:55am departure and now it is 10:00am
