SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

It's weird though - I've accepted the 'change', but it still comes up with the flight disruption warning when pulling up the booking afterwards.

I have the same on a few upcoming flights SIN-FRA (as I've been downgraded from Suites to First due to the A380 going to the 777)

I confirmed the change and even moved a day earlier as that was better for me but the message is still there

I would call them but feel its a pointless exercise

Brains Trust, we’re thinking of the A380 First Suites ….. can two people dine together? Look like no, but thought I’d ask..

Not easily..

the best you’ll get is the crew digging out a small folding stool so the second person can sit across the suite entrance, under the tv screen while the resident sits in the armchair. Because the dining table is fixed, this is the best you can do. Would help if the visiting stool-sitter was 6ft, as it’s just a low perch, but then clearance for tv is possibly an issue.

We tried it last night on 222 and didn’t carry on beyond sitting down to test the concept.. we were in 3 A and F, across the aisle from each other. Same- side suites 1 and 2 can of course wave to each other with the dividing screen down.

Incid, lovely crew but underwhelming dishes in our opinion.

Celebrity chefs should stay on the ground and not bother anyone other than at their restaurants

It’s definitely possible to have meals that taste almost as good in the air as they would be on the ground. Both ANA and JAL have their own celebrity chefs who created fantastic Japanese and Western meals for first class. It requires a bit more creative thinking, using top quality ingredients and for the crew onboard to follow heating and serving instructions. Sadly most airlines can’t fail somewhere in the process.

There was some conversation here recently about Bak Kut Teh, one of my favourite dishes in SIN. I’ve ordered it on my last SQ207 flight for lunch after not having it for a while onboard. It was well presented, the soup was nice particularly after adding some chilli but I thought the pork ribs lacked flavour.

I’m getting a bit frustrated with BTC lately and tend to stick more to the onboard menu, like this simple yet tasty eggs and caviar breakfast in had onboard SQ308.

This happened to me late June - SQ222 connecting to 366 (which was pushed back 30 mins). I accepted the change and got the same message as you everytime I logged in. We had no problems doing OLCI and all went fine. Bit unsettling but assume it is a glitch in their system

The new earn rate really is not compelling. With my current spend, it would take me at least a couple of years to get close to a premium cabin redemption to Europe. Time to have a look at that HSBC Star Alliance card...

Looking for some feedback from anyone that may have cancelled a redemption booking recently and how quick the points landed back into the account?

Have seen 6 weeks quoted, but generally quicker than that. Hoping it's relatively instant so I can make another booking with the points.

When is the latest you can cancel a KF award ticket and get points refunded? Is it up to time of travel?
Hard to find real information, but this article towards its end refers to an unconfirmed possibility of T-0 before being charged a no show rather than a cancellation fee.

Thanks so much for responding @serfty. I've had similar trouble finding information as well. "Before first leg is flown" seems to indicate up to T-0 though. Hopefully, it won't be necessary but I'm looking at separate bookings/tickets and wondering if there's a long delay/cancellation on flight one, if I can at least get the points back if I have to cancel flight 2. #worstcasescenario

While I don’t have any evidence as such, I recall being told that Saver redemptions could be changed or cancelled up until 24 hours prior to departure. This is going back about 10 years, so I have no idea whether this is still accurate or not.

It does seem to be an omission on SQ’s behalf that this isn’t stated clearly somewhere.
