SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Flew out on Saturday from MEL to DPS via SIN. It was crazy getting through international security screening - the line was out at the check in counters. Luckily for us, one of the SQ check in staff kindly escorted us right issue and close to the front of the security screening abs then took us through to immigration. I think it saved us at least 45 minutes! Nice perk SQ!

LadyC - you had express Card did you not? That takes you straight through intl dep entry without lining up at all - just go straight to door and flash to the dude and you will go right in.

Yep correct but I think I have stumbled over another gem in KF call ctr who might just in some way fill Crystals boots - she doesn't start again until 8am in the morn and I want to have her chase down a return flt for me which is also waitlisted so I will get her to cancel then - there is always an angle involved MEL - Crystal was able to help multiple AFF members out not only me so we need a replacement.

Unwanted booking now cancelled MEL - you can rest easy now my friend. I had another excellent chat to Elly - lovely manner on phone and sounds extremely competent - I am not quite ready to 'unleash' her into AFF midst but will advise when time is ready.

it would be better if SQ had a system to automatically cancel 'impossible' itineraries, or at least agents manually intervene to cancel bookings which cannot not be flown. Maybe this is something to suggest?

I wish you could cancel confirmed / ticketed bookings online just like you can with waitlists.

I did know but it managed to get us to the front of the front. Plus people are more accepting of letting you through If you are with an official, rather than by yourself.
 
Made a cancellation booking a week ago, was told $30usd fees ( award saver booking ).

Today received refund back to CC about $446 aud. But I was charged $650 aud something when I made the booking 6 months ago.
The gap is too much for $30 USD
 
bbqwer your only cancellation fee is indeed USD30/pax - not /booking - if still does not compute you need to call them back and iron it out with them.
 
And then off to TPR - shower first then brekkie. As MEL noted previously service can be very 'ordinary' here - take a look at this gorgeous young beauty - ordinary service? Hit and miss? Hmmm - I think not!

I think MEL is onto something here - why wouldn't you spend 11hrs sleeping non stop in a metal tube in CA J when the alternative is 7hrs SQ F / 3hrs SIN TPR / 5.5hrs SQ R! I am such a cough!

Just out of interest -had you always had this route booked or was it an alternative route to DPS due to ash? We're booked Saturday BNE-DPS with VA, but I'm looking at canceling and rebooking with SQ .
 
Currently ensconced in CA F Lounge in PVG awaiting 831 toSIN connecting 227 to MEL - see picture below:

Ok pic finally loaded - see the 2 BPs and the invitation to TPR - whenever you are travelling R or F on SQ you are entitled to access TPR in SIN - it's not obligatory to have the TPR invitation with you for access but for first / once only / occasional pax this TPR invitation with your name, flt details etc on rear is a sensational souvenir - I encourage all to make sure you get your hands on one.

Every dep port has stock of these TPR invitations - it's some lazy ports such as MEL and SYD are nowhere near as vigilant as handing them out as say Asian or European ports. So when dep MEL or SYD - ask ask ask for your TPR invitations - check in agents are supposed to furnish to ALL R and F pax.
