SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I didn't realise there was a pool at the airport! They are a well organised airport with free tours too. I'm glad now that we have a 9 hour layover! Cruiser Elite, what's this about a specially designated SQ F check in entry? Is it easy find on returning to the airport? On another note, we are flying on 777-300 (refitted) version from Sydney to Singapore (SQ212). Is there much difference to the 777-300ER we take from Singapore to Amsterdam (SQ324)? I suspect we will be sleeping on the latter since it leaves Singapore at 11:55pm.

Not that much of a difference between first classes on the 777s, the 'new' first class is visually more appealing and is an evolution rather than revolution. Details here (compare 'new' first class to 'other' first class): http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/flying-with-us/first-listing/

The first class check-in is just a separate entrance for first class passengers with the standard first class amenities such as personalised check-in and dedicated immigration.

tt pool in T1 was closed for renos - I thought was supposed to re-open in Nov but I might be wrong - anybody heading through there next week or so to check?

There is a special F checkin at T3 - as you approach terminal you peel off left and enter there - most taxi drivers know it - not all as I have had 2 drop me in front T3 - this is not to be missed if you ever get an opportunity.

I do not know which 777 they will use on AMS route - 2 diff fitouts on 777 - 773 and 77W have identical older F fitout - 77WN has the new F fitout - others might have more knowledge on that route. I think 212 is or was 77WN so new F it is - I never fly out of SYD so don't really know.

New F is better than old F - except for those bloody hard leather cushions which could substitute for rocks - no biggie just ask crew to fetch you a couple cushions from J as they are much better.

No matter which metal you get service level will not change - you will still be treated as royalty.

Make sure you ask for your TPR invitations at checkin in SYD - they probably won't offer to you even though they are supposed to do so - they have stock there but are just too lazy to prepare them on most occasions - so make sure you ask if not presented to you.

Sq212 has been old F on last 3 occasions I've flown. Hard product is a bit naff (I don't like the headrests and the TV resolution is a but past it) but I love how open the cabin is.

This really is a 1st world problem, but does anyone else get bothered by the gap that exists between your bedding material and the suite door that isn't covered?

I wish the bedding material extended flush to the wall like EK's setup.

Hey CE, coming home from London tomorrow in R from the Rugby World Cup.

Will only have 2 hours at TPR is there enough time to check if pool is open and where is it??

Bit of a tight squeeze time wise. It's on the roof of T1, just head to the Transit Hotel in T1. You can enter thru the revolving door if it's open for a look but you will have to pay at the transit hotel reception if you want a swim

What Danger said - it may be open I don't know - will be heading through there next Sun - if you Google Changi swimming pool info and map there. 2 hrs tight although a 10min dip shouldn't take all that long should it? ;)

Getting closer - I have 802 confirmed now - just need to get 218 cleared and we are all set to go. As I said - never give up!
Finally got over the line for MEL-SIN-PEK Nov 8 - I had 802 R SIN-PEK confirmed for a week - had to extend confirmation deadline 3 times because I just could not get 218 to clear waitlist - had to finally solicit assistance from SQ staff at MEL who sent off request to KF to get 218 confirmed - yesterday it confirmed - I logged on to finalise flt and as I clicked on it it disappeared out of waitlist - BUMMER

Back onto KF in SIN and they said they would reinstate - logged in this morn and finalised flt - most protracted rdpt booking I have experienced. As I said up thread - never give up - keep calling - stay nice - keep asking - many times success just around the corner. Back onto KF morrow morn to cancel previously ticketed 238 Nov 8 / 802 Nov 9 - direct into PEK instead o/n SIN saves me a whole day.

Will probably leave for you on Sunday CE to check. Would rather be sipping Pichon LeLande over lobster!

Why not cancel asap? There may be people in the same situation as you, urgently waiting for those seats.
Yep correct but I think I have stumbled over another gem in KF call ctr who might just in some way fill Crystals boots - she doesn't start again until 8am in the morn and I want to have her chase down a return flt for me which is also waitlisted so I will get her to cancel then - there is always an angle involved MEL - Crystal was able to help multiple AFF members out not only me so we need a replacement.

There may be an angle, but I know how I would be feeling waiting for a waitlist to clear on those flights if i needed them. SQ238/802 are currently on waitlist for your dates in saver and standard awards for Fcl (but is available for revenue sales)
