Thanks. Yes am following up. I am close to getting gold status and missing out on these points

Excellent. Keep fighting the good fight and let's see where this ends up. It's really interesting!

Unless it's in some T&C document somewhere that's not publicly accessible, well then how are we meant to know...

What has the chatbot (rather the agent that jumped on) said so far?

Worth chasing this one up, as even the T&Cs don't mention the calculation method - which is crucial.
From D.5.d of Krisflyer T&C

Subject to points f, g and h KrisFlyer miles are awarded based on the actual distance travelled, as calculated using the great circle distance formula, from the airport of departure to the airport of arrival, plus other bonuses when applicable. For connecting flights, which require change to another flight number, the KrisFlyer miles earned are based on the actual distance as calculated, using the great circle distance formula, for each sector within the trip.

Ah, missed that. Was searching for "actual miles flown" but D.5.d has "actual distance flown" so I missed it.

Crucially though, it does say great circle distance formula, which is prescriptive, but then it does say airport of departure and airport of arrival. For something like OP's MAN connection, or another OP's FRA connection, or SQ378's MXP connection, what is the designation of MAN or FRA or MXP? Are they "ignored" as the flight number only cares about original origin and final destination?

D.5.d also states "For connecting flights, which require change to another flight number" which seems to imply that connections which *don't* require a change to another flight number, are not counted separately. I'm not a lawyer but it appears that line basically renders the previous discussion and any additional miles claims as null and void, as they've specifically mentioned for SIN-MAN and MAN-IAH to count as we want them to count, the flight number needs to change. Which it doesn't.

So, I think you're out of luck @minesapint. So sorry, I really wanted a win (for yourself and others) on this one!

Hello everyone
I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use some advice or shared experiences.

I'm booking a trip on Singapore Airlines from Perth (PER) to Singapore (SIN) for my family: 2 Adults and 1 Child. Our travel dates are 23 January 2025 to 27 January 2025. We’re all set for the outbound flight but here's the snag where our return leg to Perth is currently waitlisted, and it looks like all the reward seats for the entire week are on the waiting list.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation with Singapore Airlines on this?

  • How likely is it that they’ll release more seats as the date approaches?
  • Are there any strategies or workarounds to secure those seats?
My wife’s getting so peeved i booked a non refundable hotel waiting for those return seats So, any help would not only save our trip but also keep the peace at home!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Cheers,

Is this economy or business?
No chance anyway, PER-SIN and VV waitlists never clear, at least in J, at nearly any time of the year.

Options - pay for flights.

Cheers,

That is my biggest issue with booking a one way award seat, on any airline

No guarantee you will get home when you want.

I highly doubt the waitlist will clear

Best bet is booking a one-way on any airline at whatever cost

On another note, now that 777X is officially delayed again, and looking like 2027 before any new seats comes to SQ :(

About time the CEO changes his tune and puts new seats on the A350's...

I don’t think the first part of this term means that for connecting flights with the same flight number the actual distance travelled does not govern the miles applied.

Also notably this section is specific to KrisFlyer miles and I don’t see an equivalent for status miles. The only relevant section that I could see that discusses the status miles accruals is at the top of the table in section G.1 “Accrual level (of actual miles travelled)”.

Keeping fingers crossed…

Got an update email this morning

“our responsible team and currently processing your request, rest assured we will ensure that the correct miles are credited to your account.”

Feeling more hopeful!

Hmmm. I would probably temper your expectations!

Mileage is based on origin-destination via great circle when it comes to single flight numbers.

A short LOL whinge followed by why SQ are a great airline.

My flight today is delayed by about 90 mins. First delay was for 45 minutes then a second delay for another 45 mins. The whinge is that I only now have about 6 hours in the Private Room/SQ First lounge (for my first time, so really looking forward to it)

At the second delay, meal voucher for everyone, including those in business. Enough for a drink and sandwich/burger. Airlines which shall remain nameless wouldn't even think about water let alone anything else.

Here is hoping there are no more delays!!

Don’t worry about it, while the TPR is very nice there is not much to do there after you’ve finished the meal unless you feel like taking a nap in one of the rooms. The F lounge doesn’t have much to offer if you already have access to TPR apart from a bar which doesn’t seem too popular with most pax. 6 hours is more than enough to fully experience both lounges, enjoy!

Agreed. It’s really just a waiting room with not particularly comfortable seating and zero atmosphere. The food is nice but quickly eaten. I would head out into the city if I had a six hour layover.

I actually have a night booked at CP so yes, when I am bored will get some sleep. Given how hard it is to get SQ F reward seats, just want to make the most of it. Will probably go something like this, champagne, shopping and walking, dinner, another walk, nightcap and then go to CP.

I have my luggage checked through, but it there any hand luggage storage in the lounges?

I actually found the business class lounge had more things to do, eg buffet, gadgets and self serve coffee, drinks etc

Tpr was very nice but kind of sterile, odd designed, if you hadnt told me which was which(ignoring the sleep rooms) and told me tpr was economy lounge, id believe that too

The old lounge kind of felt more special to.me, although i only did it once

That’s fair enough. S as far as I can tell, F Saver Awards to/from Australia have been discontinued.

There’s no formal hand luggage storage in the Private Room but I have had them look after bags before (in the old version of TPR). It would take a very committed thief to buy an F ticket in order to steal someone’s hand luggage.

I am potentially going to get flamed here.

The Private Room is nice, but I prefer the QF lounge in Syd or Mel.

The food was just ok, linguine is always difficult to eat with very little lobster so why bother? Tempura crab was essentially one small mouthful of crab, the rest batter and mango. Chocolates and French white were the best things I enjoyed.

Incredibly grateful for the experience (and I never lose sight of how lucky we are to do this if we churn our credit cards to achieve these flights), but one that I won't go out of my way for to repeat (and indeed if SQ have blocked Saver from and to Singapore then opportunities will be limited)

Agree - The TPR's lack of views and limited types of furniture settings (no reclining chairs?!) makes QF F a nicer space to spend a couple of hours.

The food and beverage options in TPR and the adjoining SQ F lounge (quite a decent made-to-order Singaporean menu) was better than the usual QF F standard though, IMO

What's earliest for check-in at Heathrow, 3 hours?

Have 10pm flight tomorrow and want to get there early to lounge surf...I mean try to get in a good sleep for our 6 month old before the flight.

if I have a bunch of Krisflyer miles that'll expire from not using them, are there any other ways to use them apart from converting it to VFF to prevent them from going to waste?
