A couple of comments from SQ217 on Tuesday at the end of an Asia trip, including a cruise. As mentioned above, two cabin crew personnel mentioned to me, and my wife, separately, that we had vouchers expiring and would we like to spend them on this flight. I also had pre-ordered duty free to pick up on the flight and they also told me this as I boarded. My wife definitely managed to use the voucher on the flight and we got a discount as well so took lots of duty free home.

Still not a fan of the 350 J seat (like most people) and we had the same aircraft type (LH) for 3 of the 4 flights we took. I almost preferred the seat on the regional version. I find I cannot even get the tray straight on so eating while watching a movie = a bad neck. At least 19K is the best of the bad design.

We had clear air turbulence for about 90 mins half way thru the meal service - I've experienced much worse. However, and probably due to earlier SQ experiences, the crew were super vigilant as they remained in their seats. We were following in close procession an EK aircraft to SYD and a TG and a TR flight to MEL so, I guess we all experienced the same. Once the flight deck did release the crew, you have never seen a group work quicker and more efficiently to continue the service. My main course had been in the warmer for far too long but was still (just) okay. The seat belt sign did come on again but this was to help the crew in Y get the meals out and limit the traffic in the aisles.

And thanks SQ for loading my transiting bags with the crew luggage so they came out first. With the new facial recognition kiosks at MEL, even with several incoming flights mid-evening, we were in the DiDi within 25 mins of the 350 door opening.

The odds of this happening are very slim to none.
If this indeed did happen, then you've gotten extremely lucky. A lotto ticket should be purchased as soon as possible.
MEL is just a short staffed, over crowded cacophony of hecticness at the best of times.

Maybe very slim but true Tuesday evening. First off the plane, second to the two passport readers on the way from Gate 18, straight thru the next entry point, bags off first. SQ J boarding passes have Express Pass access thru Customs check so, I guess I better buy that Lotto ticket.
 
Nice to see the medium haul A350 no longer coming to Melbourne as of today, with the long-haul A350 replacing it!

Now if they could just serve breakfast on SQ248 .... granted I eat in the NZ lounge but not a fan of eating at 6am!
 
Q re KF expiring miles; I have about 180K KF miles expiring end Feb 2025, I can use up to fly Tfu-Sin-Syd in J for 2....problem is award inventory and flights not loaded yet. Can I book awards before end Feb 25 for say September 2025, and if and when inventory opens up for late October 2025 when we want to fly, can I change the flights to then? Obviously can't cancel as points would have expired by then.

You have 12 months to use the ticket from the ticketing date. So if you issued a ticket on 11 Feb 2025 you could use the ticket up to 11 Feb 2026. So you could move the ticket. I'd assume that any changes, other than date/time changes that might involve redepositing miles and issuing a new ticket, would result in losing the expired points - although not 100% sure if that's the case if you keep the ticket between the same zones and start the journey in the same country of origin (i.e. same number of points and same ticketing country).
 
Hmmm. I would probably temper your expectations!

Mileage is based on origin-destination via great circle when it comes to single flight numbers.

Yes, but the ‘correct miles’ are likely to the the great circle distance, not the actual route flown. Their response doesn’t indicate they have accepted your position and are just working out the new mileage!

I looked today and some of October already loaded so late October 2025 should be available next month.
 
I'm trying to make my first redemption with Kris Flyer miles but am having some difficulty. I'm looking at going SYD-SIN-HND/NRT all in Suites/First, with a couple of days stop-over in SIN, on an Advantage redemption (dearer than Saver but I'm not focusing on that).

The website tells me that it's available (no waitlist note for both legs) but once I enter my details and click on Seat Selection, I'm told that I've been waitlisted. This doesn't make sense to me.

I've checked the individual flights and there are plenty of seats available. However, if I book them individually, it will cost a lot more.

I've rung them up a couple of times and they've told me that their inventory shows that none are available.

There seem to be inconsistencies here. Has anyone else had this same issue? Any tips for getting around it?

Had a similar issue a few months back, only noticed when the email came saying I'd be waitlisted..

So then went in and cancelled the booking.

Tried again and same thing, I didn't bother calling as I knew it would be a waste of time

Ended up getting J savers instead....
 
Do SQ air crew on the plane (and by extension any other airline) know what type of ticket you booked, I.e do they if you've paid for J seat or if it's a reward seat?

Sounds like a married segments issue. If you are doing it as an Advantage booking can you break the married sector logic by having a stopover of more than 24 hours in SIN?

Yonks ago in this thread CE said no they didn't. However unsure if things have changed since
 
I've discussed it twice with SQ crew - once pre COVID and once since, and both times they indicated they're not aware that you're on a redemption or not. Small sample, maybe they were saying it to be polite or avoid awkwardness. But I see no reason really for it to not be true.

Long overdue, I hear. Oddly I had no complaints about these seats earlier in the year, but I understand how others might.
