SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

A quick lounge access question. I'm flying SQ J and my little brother SQ Y. Can I guest him into the silver kris lounge at SIN ?

thanks in advance

I am 75% sure you can. :)

Looks like I'm booking LAX-NRT-SIN-MEL in J tonight x 2, can't find any R availability and there is J saver so hard to say no!

I know i'm quoting myself here but also asking a question.

I can see availability LAX-NRT-SIN-MEL however there is a 17hr transit between the SIN-MEL flight, but if I look solely for an alternative flight there is a flight with only 6hr transit which would match up with the other flights. This would get us home sooner obviously but I can't seem to book it (both trips available at saver level).

Can I ring SQ and request that flight instead of the other and still be eligble for the 15% discount as it couldn't be done online?

It's the marriage of the sectors, sometimes there's individual availability but not for the whole trip. Best way to find out is to give it a go and call - if they can do it, they will!

Married segments are segments that can only be sold in conjunction with each other. Availability does not exist on the individual sectors.

This is not a case of married segments, but likely either a limitation of the booking engine and the connections it will show, or a restriction on availability for the two particular flights (for example if SQ wants capacity control). If it's the former there shouldn't be any issues booking it.

No, I believe only F pax can guest in. J, unfortunately can not.

If either of you have *G/VA SG you can of course hang out in the always thrilling KF Gold lounge, but you already knew that. ;)

Not sure if this is news - anyway I just noticed SIA website shows new C class seats on 777-300ER is confirmed (so I guess that means 100% unless last minute subs) for flights departing Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra (from 21SEP16), Darwin, Melbourne, and Sydney from 22 February 2016...

Don't think there's any change here...

The new Singapore Airlines Business Class (pictured left) is available on selected routes operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, including Melbourne and Sydney.

No nothing new there.

Mrs-mart - did you receive your TPR invite at check in PVG? And you didn't give us your thoughts CA F in PVG? How was your R exp on midnight flt?

Showers and toilets closed in TPR on Wed morn for maint they said - had to rub shoulders with the commoners out in F - and some of them were so poorly dressed!

I did see the chef in F section cooking what looked to be a fabulous omelette Wed morn - he said just come back anytime and he will cook anything you desire for brekky. Am def going to give it a whirl next trip.

Will give them a call tonight and see what can be done, and then keep an eye out to see if any R/F flights open up for a surprise to the good wife!

I think the 'fares' are what are available, rather than the new C class seats. At least I don't think Darwin has 777s do they? (I could be wrong, I haven't checked!)

So is the Lobster as good as everyone makes out, or is there a different dish I should be considering...

The lobster is pretty good, but only if you're a fan of lobster to begin with. It's not for everyone.

Honestly, every time I've BTCed, I've regretted it since I never seem to feel like the food I've ordered on the day. The on-board food is always pretty good (particularly in F) so I kind of feel like BTC is overrated, but I know others feel differently!

Agree with mrsmart

If it is your first time I would say go for it. Pairs well with Krug:p

I usually find there is so much food even before I get to the BTC.......

Definitely try the lobster if it's your first time.
I have had it couple times for flights flying out of SIN, it was good and the quality consistent as with everything SQ.

BTC for a breakfast service flying out of SIN, my missus swears by the dim sum but it is a small serving with only a few pieces.

I plan to go through a few more items on the BTC list.

Agree 100%! Only BTC I was happy with was the Lobster. Every other time I was horribly disappointed.

Ditto for never BTC unless its 828 to PVG or 802 to PEK - they serve brekky and brunch and after brekky in TPR another brekky last thing I want.

I am allergic to crustaceans BC so am never going to choose Lobster - but Cruiserette regularly has it and says some times whatever that white sauce is too much and too overpowering - but ask for that on the side and you can prepare as you like.
