SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Reference point for those with pre-revaluation of KF Award bookings - if you are seeking to make simple changes to those bookings like date change then the SQ web site is currently seeking extra points and $s which is not correct - until this problem is rectified you will need call SQ and get an agent to make changes for you at ZERO pts and $s - i had to do this yesterday and it was rectified without question.

I tried and the CSR insist that I need to pay 58K extra miles, rather than being free of change. I will HUACA tomorrow ......

I asked a friend to get a few shots of the nap zones in the SK lounge at Changi. Hopefully we will test them out in just over three weeks.

I had a look out of curiosity while I was in the lounge on 17 June.

They do not look that comfortable, and so I doubt that I will ever try them. Having said that people in the previous lounge late at night used to nap on the old couches that were not quite long enough. So these are major upgrade on that. They are in a private room with a sliding door to limit noise.

Given the size of the lounge, there are also not that many of them and so I suspect will be hard to nab at times.

There were two adjacent nap zones. I think one may have been for males, and one for females.

Not as in haha funny, but still, ooo, hard to put a finger on how I would describe it, its like, a, how to put it, ...
Hard to put a finger onto it, but its too bare, even if its only a nap zone.

I recently accepted the upgrade me offer to premium economy and on the first visit to the bathrooms in economy felt that airlines have gone too far with reducing the space in economy.

Despite the priority tag on my bag, and probably due to a departure from Brisbane that was 1 and a half hours late, when l arrived in Seoul my checked bag didn't arrive. Asiana is the ground agent in Incheon and told me too bad, they would deliver it when it arrived. I got it 48 hours later. Does Singapore offer any sweetener for the inconvenience? As I had a change of clothes in my carry-on for the shower I didn't get to have in Singapore, then I was waiting for my Covid test result on day 1 and I was waiting for the bag all day until it arrived at 10 pm on day 2 there wasn't any cost except for washing small loads but I'm wondering of it is worth asking for something and what I would have the best chance of getting. Free upgrades for life would be nice, but I'm not that optimistic.

I have become separated from baggage twice. On neither occasion did the airline even say sorry, let alone give compensation. Both times the bag was delivered to my door, but it was stressful, particularly since you have no idea when/whether the bag will arrive until it actually does.

I guess I was spoilt, the first time I was separated from my luggage was in a LHR T4 to T1 40-minute transfer in 2005. Somehow, I made it to BEG but the bag didn't. BA said I could spend up to £35 a day on essentials until my bag arrived 2 days later and reimbursed me. Asiana, said I couldn't get anything. I could have claimed expenses on my CC travel insurance however buying clothing in my size in Korea is a challenge. I guess I was right that there are 2 types of luggage, carry-on on and lost.

It’s pretty much same same with Singapore Airlines. They will reimburse you for any essentials you need while waiting for your delayed bag… https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/us/travel-info/customer-commitment/customer-service-plan/ (see para 2)

At an away port (destination or transit) I usually need a pair of socks and jocks, a t-shirt or pair of shorts, or pair of flip-flops. So I’ll buy those and charge back to the airline. Arriving back home you’re normally expected to have all those things at home, but I try and see the advantage in not having to line up at customs, or lug your bag on public transport. Nice to have it home delivered!

I have 2 seperate Redemption bookings, BNE>SIN on Saver, then 3hrs later SIN>CGK on Advantage.
Whats the easiest way to get them connected so I can transit in Changi?
I don’t think you’ll get the bookings merged but you may be able to sweet talk the check in agent to through check your luggage.
thanks, does it matter if i already did online check-in? or do i wait to sweet talk the check in lady.

I have no idea - I only use online check in when there is no alternative - I like having boarding passes. :)

Basically, though, you are where you are in the process. You might as well ask.

Zero hard copy newspapers or magazines in SKL:

Walked across to QF Inter J Lounge and no hard copy newspapers their either - BUT - abundance of hard copy magazines - even ladies o be try are bewildered

Gotta love these Krug 1/2 botts - even this devine nectar goes flat much quicker up here:
FTR - 9 x 1/2 botts Krug + 4 botts Dom loaded for this sector - 4 F pax on this flt and I am only 1 drinking Krug - gunna have me work cut out 👍

A long time ago when I still drank, I did a BKK-SIN flight on LX in F. Two pax, the other one on water. I noticed that when I ordered wine, they put the open bottle on a display shelf at the front of the cabin. Was I very profligate in choosing a different wine every time?
