SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

As an update to my post up thread here not all PAX may be so honest. I was more than happy to be reunited with my gadget bag (Rimowa mini bag) yesterday however after receiving it was not quite a full as when it was lost. The AU charger x2 USB A and x2 USB C connections, a USB C to lighting cable, the USB C to 3.5mm and lighting to 3.5mm adaptors have all gone astray. I can only conclude as my gadget bag continued its journey without me those who came across it had no need for for an apple watch charger or an apple mouse or pencil. If the FR24 are correct the gadget bag travelled: SIN-JFK, JFK-SIN, SIN-EWR, EWR-SIN, SIN-JFK, JFK-SIN.

For all the hype about Covid cleaning on aircraft I am left pondering how my little bag journeyed US/SIN 3 times before it was found.
:(

On a couple of recent SQ J flights, one had nut debris/bits all over the seat/side area, and the other had big obvious smudges all over the screen. So much for them cleaning "high-touch" areas.

FWIW - and that may well be ZERO - I asked Crew on recent flts 228 / 336 to complete a short survey for me:

I was kinda staggered to read earlier post indicating SQ Crew Members disliking the OZ routes or OZ in general - IME this is totally incorrect - but as always YMM(and will)V - such is life 👍

Interesting! Thanks for asking.
Out of curiosity, did you ask them to exclude their own country/city of origin?

I'm fascinated that Melbourne outranks Sydney so much. I always thought this was the preference of people's lived, not visited, experience.

That's why I bring my own wipes on board!

Not abnormal for this preference amongst Singaporeans in general, at least in my experience.

Also, with FA's remember that many of them also aren't just visiting destinations for the first time ....

Is anyone needing to stay at YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport Landside (SG Clean) before December 31, 2022?
I have a hotels.com coupon worth $54 that is expiring.
Happy to give it away as I will have no use for it.

Nice offer, I may have a use for such late next month.

I'll send you a message ...

We were served satay PER-SIN on 25th August, so I don't think this is quite right.
PER has generally always had the satay service on the afternoon departures unlike other Australian stations.

It was explained to me several years ago that they're able to do it out of PER because of the shorter block and turnaround times as they're served within 8 hours of being loaded ex SIN. I suspect they have some perishability concerns, particularly for the aircraft that have long layovers like the aircraft that operate SQ 228 and SQ 222 out of MEL and SYD respectively.

A question please for those with more knowledge of points bookings.

I have a Saver award booking for 2, LHR-SIN in June next year that I need to ticket by Christmas. I was earlier advised by SQ to wait until now to add a flight into LHR to the itinerary as European award seats were not available when I made the original booking - hence the extension on the ticketing deadline.

Interesting that I received no response at all to my question from a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I posted it to the wrong thread although I have seen SQ points questions answered here previously.

Probably it got lost in important discussions about satay and photos of champagne.

I have finalised the booking in the meantime.

I couldn’t help, but feel free to share your experience. Did you have to call? How Was the call centre?

Interesting Pax (P) -> Crew Member (CM) ratios SQ -> EK:
  • SQ R 380 - 6 P / 3 CM + IFM = 4 - 1.50 P / CM
  • SQ F 777 - 4 P / 2 CM + IFM = 3 - 1.33 P / CM
  • EK F 380 - 14 P / 3 CM + IFM + 1 GSA = 5 - 2.80 P / CM
  • EK F 777 - 8 P / 2 CM + IFM = 3 - 2.66 P / CM
NFI about other airlines offering F - others might be able to provide comparisons?

Flight landing 9pm connecting to a flight 9am the following morning - will I be able to check bags all the way so I don't have to deal with them in Singapore?

Yes.

Recently on SQ flight that landed at 6pm at FRA, flight next morning at 8:30am on SQ to JFK, no problems with checking through. And not even SQ's hub.

Hmmm seems this needs further investigation - 336 IFM Ahmet was on a recent PER-SIN flt and yes they served Satay - he found it strange as he thought no Satay ex Oz ports - anyway he is going to investigate and see if he can get complete deets and will email me 👍 I will post his findings
So - Ahmet had replied to me via email that to ensure I rcvd full clarity he had contacted SQ Customer Affairs Officer, Australia and New Zealand who have just replied via email:

Dear Mr. Elite

To clarify your query surrounding our satay offering.

We would like to share that satay is offered in Suites, First and Business class on all flights with a flight duration of 5 hours or more featuring a full lunch or dinner service.

In addition, satay is served on flights departing from Singapore. However due to regulations, satay is not allowed to be brought in from Singapore into Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for use in the flights departing from these cities and we are also not allowed to bring satay from Singapore into the United States of America for use on the return journey.

Mr Elite, we hope this provides clarity for your query and we thank you for taking the time to write to us and to allow us to respond.

Yours sincerely
