SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Gee changing FF number online on a paid flight seems easy but is apparently not so easy. After entering managing my booking and making the change, it gets blocked by a request for a OTP which is totally fine except it never arrives and there is no space on the form to enter it anyway.

It says I can enter it at airport check in which is fine but if I check in online before hand is the frequent flyer locked in and unable to be changed when I collect my BP at the airport?

I had the same experience with a request for an OTP that never arrived. Tried via the App and on the computer to no avail. Maybe an IT glitch. I'll wait till I get to the airport.

This could be an interesting (and rare) SQ status Fastrack to A*G.

By any chance has anyone flown SQ202 from SYD in J or F recently? Or ever really. Looking to see a menu potentially or even just details on what meals are served. Guessing breakfast and light lunch? Too early for caviar in F?

EDIT: I see SQ202 only starts later next year. The corresponding flight is currently SQ262.

You can go to the page: https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/flying-withus/dining/

Go to ‘view your inflight menu online’ and you’ll see what’s in offer.

IIRC menus are only available for the next 7 days or something, so just change the date to tomorrow.

If your flight is some time away, the items might change, but you’ll get the general idea!

Any tips/advice for family of 4 looking to book J-class MEL-CDG?

I'm looking to book Apr 2024 for flights in Apr 2025.

Have sufficient points etc, so interested in thoughts on:

1. Choice of aircraft (B777 v A350).
2. Likelihood of A380 returning on any of these legs/flights?
3. Seating choice with parents and two teens. Are all the middle seats essentially the same in terms of dividers/privacy?
4. Preferences on transit through SIN and arrival times into CDG. (I'm tending towards overnight in both directions with quickest transit, but open to ideas if i'm missing something).

TIA!

Detailed seat maps here: Hola - aeroLOPA | Detailed aircraft seat plans , or via SQ.

I would take window seats rather than middles. But the a350 as an aircraft gives a better ride than the 777 (better cabin pressure and far less noise).

It’s nice to be able to get off the plane, stretch your legs, have a shower and do some duty free shopping in singapore. The shortest connections don’t let you do any of that and can be very rushed. I like to aim for about 3-4 hours in SIN, time to relax, check emails, have a shower, wonder the shops and head for the plane.

Even that far out, it might be a matter of you take what you can get!

Also consider in advance if you would be willing to travel in two groups - you with one child, and your partner the other child, on different flights, potentially arriving at different times, or if that's a deal-breaker. If you are willing to, it might give you more options, with 4-5xdaily MEL-SIN and 2x daily SIN-CDG.

If you are time restricted, then choose whatever suits what the best connections are. If not so timebound, then I personally find an afternoon flight up to SIN, a night in Singapore, then the afternoon flight to Europe really helps to minimise jet lag. ( although full confession I actually live in Singapore so can pop home for a night in my own bed in between flights. But I have done it three times now on back to back trips after visiting family in/around Melbourne and in doing so accidentally discovered that it was great for jetlag. I think a few others do this as well, except staying in a hotel).

The other thing to consider, if you can't get the flights you want, other destinations nearby, you can reach Paris from Brussels for example fairly quickly by train (London also not that far).

1. A350
2. Uncertain, it's more economical for SQ to send them here to Sydney/Melbourne - very slot constrained, same for Frankfurt.
3. If I were you and the teens I would take yourself and the missus in the middle, and the teens on the sides. They will enjoy the privacy and view of the window seats, you can enjoy each others company in the middle.
4. I think this is purely down to personal preference, I always like to try and arrive early on the day at the start of any trip, and I always like a long(er) stopover so I can relax, eat and drink, and do some work. If you've never been to the SQ business lounge (silverkris) in Changi, for sure give it some time - you can take a shower there (pack change of undies and socks), you can relax or do work or whatever, kids can go enjoy a movie at the airport and then come to the lounge - the possibilities are endless. I agree with the previous poster though, no less than 4 hours - that's a comfortable timeframe to get to the lounge, eat, shower, and relax a bit.

I got all three!!
The 4th choice was ice cream with compote. I passed, though Mrs D devoured hers.
For me, this is the difference between SQ and other airlines. They make you feel SPECIAL!

I'm in the 2nd row of a pretty full cabin but the FA was confident that she would have enough for everyone!
Feeling indulged but not fawned upon. Perfect balance!

Here's hoping they don't run out of port.

SQ adding five services a week in June to London … Gatwick, according to mainlymiles, who also mentioned that SQ (unsurprisingly) were unable to get those extra slots at LHR so opted for LGW instead. That will mean 5x daily except Tue/Wed SIN-LON.

Not suitable for many on this thread though, will be operated by an A350, so no F…

I'm travelling from SYD - SIN - KIX departing on 24th Jan. I land 12am in SIN and then depart 2pm that same day.

I have a mate in Singapore that i intend to stay at his that morning, and then get up at like 7/8am and do a quick tour around Singapore. What would the process be to leave and come back to the airport? When i check into SYD, can i check my bag through to KIX so i dont need to take it with me when i leave the airport and then need to recheck in?

The flight SIN - KIX departs 2:05pm, so assuming i only have carry on, how long should i leave to checkin to the airport to maximise my time checking out the sights?

Your bags can be checked all the way through no need to collect them in Singapore and you can do the same for your boarding passes you should also get those when you check in in Australia.

I would then aim to arrive back at the airport one hour prior to departure so that you can go through the passport gates and head straight for your boarding gate and security. That should have you ready to board the aircraft 30 minutes prior to departure
