I don't understand not wanting to help out someone who might be experiencing a once in a life time thing; many of us on here get to do these things far more frequently than the average punter.

It’s not really a double bed though is it? That’s just how they make it look for the marketing photos. Still had the divider in the middle between the mattresses. Are they even able to provide a double bed sized blanket that covers both beds?

Some huge assumptions there. What if the person in 1A was on the trip of lifetime saved up for years carefully researched which airline had the best seat and booked it 10 months out then a couple of DYKWII book last minute and come along expecting to be accommodated?

Could be the person's one and only chance in a lifetime to fly in J

Personally I'd like to see SQ treat Row 1 the same as a bassinet row, allowing people to book it as a solo traveller on the understanding that they may be re-allocated if a couple would like to take the double suite. At least that would make the expectation clear up-front and prevent any awkward conversations at check-in or after boarding.

I agree. As a solo flyer I am not able to book any of the centre QR suites which combine to form a set of 2/4 seats. My option is only the single window seats. Should be easy enough for SQ to implement.

I don't have a problem if it is company policy and expectations are set prior to booking.

I do have a problem with assumptions and people expecting their needs to be serviced over others.

Some people are able to book 350 days in advance, others cannot do that for various valid reasons. Sharing a double bed on a flight is a unique experience that I would not stop a couple from doing for the sake of a happy pax and a sqm or two.

I think most people agree and it comes down to how it’s handled. Politely and with gratitude tends to be the rarest forms of requesting better seats.

The front row is better, much more room in the legwells. If you can move at t-96 it would be worth it.

Indeed! Front row is better than the third. The legwells go into the wall and are wider. Plus there’s a bit more of a sense of space without the seat and other pax in front of you.

A quick question for the SQ specialists on this Forum:

We are presently booked J on SQ 208 Tuesday next - the 1825 service MEL-SIN, then onto HND a couple of days later.

Has anyone ever had success arriving early and being able to move to SQ 228 at 1540? The App is still showing J availability on this flight but my Travel Agent says the price differential to make the change is substantial.

Is it worth arriving around 1400 and seeing if we can get a change at the airport? If so, do you think we would pay a fare difference? At our age, arriving a couple of hours early would be a benefit to us.

Thanks in advance. No Book the Cook or anything special ordered.

Travelling solo in September with a 12h layover between Suites inbound (9:20pm) and F outbound (9:40am). I understand the Private Room has nap rooms (with windows ) and they're unavailable 2:30am-5:30am, but otherwise I should have access to a bed and showers before/after that. I've also read the nap rooms are limited to 2 hours, but you can stay longer if there's no one waiting.

Reporting back with a data point - the lounge staff allocated me a TPR nap room overnight for five hours!

Initially I went to ask about a room at 10:30pm. When they heard I wasn't departing until the following morning, they proactively suggested if I return for a room at 12:30am I'd be able to stay overnight while the lounge was closed.

The two hour room allocation took me through to 2:30am (closing time) and no one else would need the room until the lounge reopened.

I was able to freely come and go from the nap room to use the toilets etc. The bedding was terrific and I had a great sleep, however the lights turn back on every 2 hours - so if you're going to try this, bring an eye mask...

I loved the mini hotel rooms inside the lounge, managed to doze off when I usually cant sleep on planes/transit rooms etc!
but I didnt see any rooms with windows on them, when I had a peak in a few of them

question for the many experts on here,
due to expiring miles situation, I have to make a booking very very shortly.
Im looking at a solo trip from Melb to Rome
ive plugged in July 2025, (very flexible on dates) for about 2 weeks,

ive searched F, but it appears there is plenty of availability, half the flights are A350 x2 (no F) and half the flights are 777+350 , however for some reason F is not showing up even as waitlist, which isnt a bad thing since paying F rates for half the route In F is bad value,

ive searched spontaneous escapes for a promo but nothing that far in advance
Might be a how long is a piece of string question, but is the best/Only option to do J on the options with 777+A350 (thanks in advance)
