Yes I had a few, but does the refund affect the bonus points? I thought as long as the minimum spend is met.
Well they don't want people cancelling the card with more points than they should have got. Every point costs them money. It's not unreasonable for them to offset refunded points that haven't been cancelled out by additional spend against the sign up bonus. We may prefer that they didn't do that, but I think it's fair.

I hit the minimum spend in month 1 and received the spend points. The refund came through in month 2, therefore those points were deducted from the bonus points because I had not made any further spend in month 2. Perfectly fair.

I am not sure what you mean, I am talking about the bonus point which depends on the meeting the minimum spend requirement. I met the minimum spend requirement and I am talking about refunds beyond the minimum requirements.

If your refunds for the month amounted to a greater value then what you spent (and earned point), then they will reduce the bonus points by the remainder. For example:

Month 1: Spent $7,000 for 5,250 QFF Points (eligible spend met for 90,000 Bonus QFF Points)
Month 2: Spent $1,000 for 750 QFF Points & Returns of $1,500 for -1,125 QFF Points. A net result of -375 QFF Points for the month as returns outweighed spend.

So if they post your 90,000 Bonus QFF Points in Month 2, then it will be reduced by 375 QFF points and you would see 89,625 QFF Points transferred to your account.

I remain surprised just how many have not gone the Kris Flyer Miles way. One of my partners just pulled Suites Saver to Europe and back using those valuable miles.

I haven't. Primarily because I've never had availability issues with Qantas.

I am astounded by this... I've found SQ to have much superior availability. What routes do you commonly fly?

Just hit $5k on mrs tizeys card... now to get those QF bonus points before converting over Krisflyer for ongoing earn.

Thanks for clarifying, I thought the bonus point didn't have anything with refunds as long as the minimum spend was met.

I am a member but where and how would I earn bonus points like qff other than transferring velocity points?

I think it depends what you are after, if you are a churn and dump kind of guy (Dr Ralph) its hard to justify only getting half as many points for the signup offer, so you'd go for QF. However if you are putting significant value through the card (Cove) then SQ would seem a better way to go.

I'm a bit of both, has anyone had experience with signing up for QF but then switching after they get the signup points? I know some have had success with doing this with other CC providers (Westpac, Citi) so wondering if anyone has tried this successfully with the Sit George /BOM/BankSA cards?

Yes we all have different circumstances that’s for sure.We are overseas 5 times this year.
Our family loves Kris Miles.
Today we are in the First Lounge in Los Angeles before heading to New York. This is our status run with Qantas.

Yes, in the past I have signed up for QFF, got the bonus and QP invites then switched over to Amplify.

I did this the other day after receiving my 90K. From the St George site:

Can I switch between rewards programs?

Yes, you can move from Amplify Qantas1 to Amplify Rewards2 or from Amplify Rewards to Amplify Qantas at any time by completing a Program Switch Request.

Where a change of rewards program is processed mid cycle, transactions made before the switch is processed will earn points towards the old program (subject to that program’s terms and conditions). Transactions made on or after the day the switch is processed will earn points in the new program (subject to that program’s terms and conditions).

Important:

Points already earned within the previous rewards program will not be transferred to the new rewards program. You will have 90 days to use your Amplify Points if you switch from Amplify Rewards2 to Amplify Qantas1. Qantas Points are governed by the conditions in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program.
