How long until they post the birthday bonus? Does it go on the statement immediately after your birthday?

For me yes, even though I had cancelled my card 6 months earlier!

St George have just sent me out another two Qantas Club invitations, even though I cancelled the card last year. Just goes to show how useless they are. Not that I'm complaining.

You would be surprised just how manual these processes are within a bank. All thats happened is that a junior burger BA hasn't updated the excel spreadsheet sent to Qantas. Points calculations aren't much more sophisticated. At some point the product manager will audit this or a new BA/product manager will arrive and it will be fixed. This sort of stuff happens constantly.

Yes, my bonus is posted in the Statement that includes my birthday. It's 10% of the previous 12 months of Points, excluding any Bonus Points. ("Birthday bonus is calculated over a period of 12 months, on the number of Amplify Points or Qantas Points (excluding bonus points").

Why they bother with this 10% Birthday Bonus rather than simply giving points to 82.5% of purchases, I don't understand.

They'll be hoping that you don't cancel when the annual fee is due.

How's the application process? Is it quite straight forward/easy or will I have to provide a lot of documents, such as ID, payslips, etc?
I'm not a St George customer, but I am a Westpac customer with transaction accounts and credit card.

Pretty straight forward. I applied online BOM version of the card (self employed), filled in the usual monthly amounts and bills etc. I emailed them my tax return ( they didn't ask for it but they always do) .Applied Friday pm approved Monday pm. Reasonable credit limit to work with. Happy days

Finally got my card.

Initially declined the card then called up to get them to reconsider. Took the call centre operator a while before she went ahead with it as she was asking why I should be reconsidered for the card. Just told her I'm a westpac customer who has a few loans and the black card then she went ahead with getting it sent back to the credit team for reassessment. Took a couple weeks before I was contacted for payslips/tax returns etc and another week or 2 for approval.
Got my letter the mail asking me to go to the nominated branch to pick up the card and to answer more questions, mainly about identity etc. What annoyed me was trying to get to the branch. Had a quick glance at the letter and saw it said St George Clayton, so I popped that into google maps and that lead me to Huntingdale where there was no StG branch, so got out the letter and it said 366 Clayton Rd, Clayton. So popped to 366 Clayton Rd only to find that it's a bloody retail shop. I was on my phone so I opened Google and searched it up, which was of no help as it directed me to StG website which then asked me to download the app to find locations. So I did that and it pointed me to Westpac. Went down the road, past the Bank of Melbourne branch, and into Westpac to ask them where it is and they said it's probably the BoM branch. Eventually ended up in the right place.

Bom is correct. I feel sorry for you. So much trouble and the card isn't even that great. They are also pretty conservative with credit limit
