I applied for Amplify Signature card in early June - before applying I opened a Saver acc with St G and dropped 130K in it as I wanted to try to guarantee approval. But even then my application was denied. I called St G to ask why? They told me due to so many Credit Applics (CCs) over last 6mths they declined - however I could / should reapply in another 6mths and if no CC applics they would look favourably upon it.

I then reapplied mid July and lo and behold approved on the spot - go figure!

May I ask how many CCs you had recently applied for?

If I haven't even done my tax return for 2016-2017 yet.
And I don't have any payslips as well.
My salaries just straight deposit to my bank acc. Is it ok to apply this credit card?

I applied early this year. Payslips were requested.

This week I applied for David Jones AMEX and payslips were not required. I appreciate that you may be looking for a non Amex card.

hi guys, I got my card and about to pay my TAX bill as apparently St George offer points for TAX payments (its not as good as normal purchases but still).

Has anyone done this with this card and would the tax bill possibly count towards the $3000 min spend? the T&Cs sate the following:

"Eligible purchases do not include BPAY, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account."

not sure of TAX payment counts as "fees" ?

My understanding is that tax spend will count. General rule is, that if the purchase earns you points, then it is an eligible spend.

May I suggest that you don't talk to banks about ato payments. We don't need to tip the last few banks off. (Insert Wink emoji here)

Sadly, I think this advice is way too late, the banks are very aware of what people are using credit cards for, including ATO usage and its not because of conversations with a Call Centre operator.

Just got this approved. Hopefully the St George and Westpac exclusion criteria are all applied in an identical manner ;)

thanks, I paid the tax bill and called St George and they confirmed that yes, they can see eligible spend has been met.
Please be careful when paying the Tax bill. An AFF member spent about 20-30k on ATO and got their points/card suspended. Search earlier in the this or the other St George card thread.

really? why ? I researched which cards allow for ATO points and St George was recommended by many and haven't heard any issues. They cant cancel or suspend the card just because I used it to pay my tax bill, which btw I paid back on the card right away.

re: points, I rang the bank and didnt mention specifically payment to ATO, I just asked if I qualify for the promo, they checked yes and the operator said "and I can see you met the min spending criteria already so you will be getting the points ...."

They have extended the offer to 22 Nov 2017 but removed the wording on the second year bonus of having to pay the annual fee for the second year. Just "30k credited within 6 wks of your 12 month anniversary".

Less than 48 hours from approval to receiving the card - that is fast! Don't think any other issuers have been like that!

Data point.
Approved for this card: 26th July
Reached min spend: within 2 weeks
60K bonus points arrived: 22 September.

It's unlikely the points would be credited prior to the annual fee being billed, but one can hope.
