Strategy to obtain US Amex

It’s once every 12 months, not calendar year. And I did it recently. 99% of CSO’s have no clue about this, so don’t worry too much on what they say. Keep trying until you get someone who can do it.
I called Amex australia international MR team and they said US knocked it back . I had transferred to the US from my Uk MR account I’m 2020 and they said my US account can receive only once a year .

Anyone have trouble with using a mail forwarding with letters and credit card information being sent then forwarded to australia?

They will knock it back if you request a transfer within 12 months of previous transfer. Other than that, there is no issue. Infact I was told by one of the rep that Amex have greatly simplified international points transfer recently. Used to be a lot more coughbersome in the past.

Was approved for Capital 1 Venture X using ITIN. Had to upload a copy of passport and ITIN and approved same day. I was at 4/24 and 1/12.

Can you keep doing this every 12 months? Is there no limits or other restrictions that make it a one off?

The transfer rates to airlines is so much better on US cards as compared to the AUS ones. Even taking the exchange rate into account, you still gain more points by transferring them across.

I also just got approved for the Venture, I didn’t apply for the X one because I have many travel credits from Amex.

Yes you can, until Amex change the rules (if they do).

How long has your ITIN been incorporated with your Credit Score? Do you have a Cap1 bank a/c by any chance? I am considering opening one with them.

I first used ITIN first Feb 2020. I have their 360 checking account.

Is this a personal or business account? My understanding was personal accounts aren’t able to be opened online.

Personal. I believe you can still open online with ITIN. Someone opened one a few months back. I heard about several succesful applications after I posted about it. Give it a try.

I'm sorry, I might've missed this. How do you set up an ITIN online? I tried a paper based application which took forever and was ultimately rejected so was going to go via one of the offers referred to in this thread.

You cannot set it up online. We were talking about opening a checking account online using ITIN.
