Strategy to obtain US Amex

I have Premium+ Mail. Mail usually gets through. I did find my Amex Green card didn't get through and I ended up calling Amex to send me a new one to Australia as I was "travelling" at the time which they did. Seems a bit of a watse of resources ...

MYUS worked for me a week ago and I had my Amex Bonvoy card delivered to MyUs and to be sent out if I pay for the it. About 35 usd.
Banks like CS have flagged that address from MYUS as a mail forwarder so I need to find another mail forwarder.

Though I'm going the other road with requesting Amex to sent it abroad. You can request this 10 days after card was approved.
Amex Cs agent wanted to verify my verify my foreign passport through notarycam.com with an agent through Web cam. Notarycam are unfortunately very slow in their response and I was only able to find a meeting for next Friday... Sent in a request yesterday.

T-Mobile …..

I keep getting AutoPay failure messages

Does anybody know if the process will only accept US denominated credit cards. I have tried my Wise Debit card; there seems to be no issue with Wise. It failed. I have now used my Amex ICC USD card. The latest failure message seems to have been generated after that card was added. Also, the pfaff of paying this card off makes it a nuisance to use. Was actually just about to close it prior to this

I am reluctant to use my Aspire Card because having card loaded on to Telco websites seems like a sure fire way to get the card compromised and in need of replacement …. and I’ve only just got it ;)

Anybody have an experience with this?

Anyone here hold both the the Hilton Aspire + Bonvoy Brilliant? Considering the Bonvoy Brilliant card. 900 USD in total is a lot but can make up for it with the annual statement credits if you stay at the hotels. No problem with using the resort credit because it can be used on a Gold Coast trip. Already used up the airline fee credits. Instant Diamond status a no brainer.

Marriott is where it gets tricky. Bonvoy Brilliant gives instant Gold Status but I heard the benefits only really roll in at Platinum level. So I will need 35 more nights for a year, which is a fair amount. Gonna be harder to get the business card for another 15 nights. Luckily Sydney has a decent amount of Marriott hotels.

If you have a personal and "business" Marriott card assuming one of the card's features is 15 night credit then get 30 night head start to Platinum so only need to stay 20 more nights to hit Platinum. Within Amex can get:
Bonvoy card $US95 AF
Includes 15 nights credit towards status and 1 "free" night up to 35,000 points

Bonvoy Business card $US125 AF
Includes 15 nights credit towards status and 1 "free" night up to 35,000 points

I think you can only have 1 personal and 1 business (if you qualify and it makes sense for you) for this hack. Might be worth it if you stay at least 20 nights per annum and the AF's make sense to you.

Can also do this with the Chase issued cards - though I think there's a 2 card limit. Thought Amex had stopped issuing the base Bonvoy card but can see it on the website (my old SPG card become this card).

Alot cheaper than paying for the Brilliant if you don't need it.

YMMV

I have autopay off and have a calendar reminder to manually top up every month and then use my platinum card.
Sorry, I'm confused. Autopay off for which bank and which bank do you top up with your Amex?
I thought autopay to Wise and top up Wise with whatever usd amount was the best idea to pay for our US Amex bills? I don't have any foreign exchange fees on the card I top up Wise.

No . Once you are premier your RM can assist you .

Great! Do you have the card and do you recommend it?

Do they have the same airline reward partners everywhere? In the UK they have British Airways, Asia Miles, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Etihad Guest.

Have you ever booked a flight via HSBC Travel? Are the prices inflated? Just trying to work out whether the $400 HSBC Travel credit will offset the fee. If not I might apply for the free card and keep it forever to build up my US credit score.

It works that way for me, every month.
Hi DC3. I currently have three US based credit cards (CFU, CSP, and BOA Alaska). I assume that this is talking about the best way to pay off US based credit card balances in full with the lowest fees/costs? Is there somewhere I can read how you all do that? I currently just organise a manual funds transfer & conversion from AUD to USD each month using Wise into my US based BOA check account and then pay the cards off. Is there a better way?

In my case, my only US-issued credit cards are 2 x Amex cards and I use Amex autopay for monthly payments through Wise. Unfortunately, I have no experience as yet with any other US card issuers. I wish that I had your problem. 😉

I have two checking accounts (Citibank - Primary) and HSBC Premier through Oz(Backup). I transfer Revolut and Wise into my Cit Checking account. Within the Credit card website, I pull the money from my Citi account (I have entered my Citi details in Amex). I currently have Amex, Cap1, Chase and Citi (ID check in place). I have a SSN. To keep my utilisation down, usually redraw a big chunk of my expense before the statement is issued on my Personal cards

I recently got approved for the Citi Premier card which got sent to my mates house in US. Whilst adding the card into Apple Wallet, I was asked to call Citi to verify myself. Which went to the Fraud team. She asked me whether I have a home phone (which I dont). Then she asked me one of the strangest question that she wants to speak to my employer, I said this is a personal card why do you need to speak to my employer. She said, that a letter will be sent to me. I am intrigued what will be in the letter asking me to provide. Some have received a code in the letter to authenticate

PS: This drama happened with my Citi Checking account a year ago, I had to provide the code, proof of my SSN, and a 3 way call wiith Amex/HSBC. Not sure what triggered it.

Any experience of this kind with Citi will be helpful

Thanks very much @DC3 and @Igreen. I was fortunate enough to gain an SSN when I was working in the US some time ago. Since returning back to Oz, I now use it for credit cards primarily.

@Igreen How do you find your Cap1 card?

I use Amex autopay for monthly payments through Wise

I transfer Revolut and Wise into my Cit Checking account
Do you use a Wise multi-currency account or just the normal wise money transfer?
