Strategy to obtain US Amex

In the Amex US app >go to account>scroll down to financial tools>FICO score.
I don't have a FICO score yet but I think that's what people in previous posts have mentioned.

Sure pls. Is that the Fiverr new user 10% off?
how to download Amex US app? It says its not available in my country

You need to create a US iTunes Account, log out of your current one and log into the new one. Then you’ll find Amex US along with Chase, Citi, TextNow, etc.
Afterwards you can log into your usual iTunes account. Sometimes when upgrading apps (not always) it may ask you for the US account password.

Experian is no dice. I'm not sure how anyone with an ITIN can get access to their Experian report online. Equifax is OK since they accept ITINs. My C1 application clearly pulled the correct report with my Amex and ITIN on the same file but I'm not sure if Experian has my ITIN.

I applied for CSP for the 80K but I reckon I'll get declined.
Ah righto. Makes sense. Have you already applied for a card with your ITIN to link them up? Else existing cards wouldn’t show up on a credit report linked to your ITIN would it

I was looking at applying for the CSP too.

Thanks. Using Android but followed the same idea.

I've held Amex Aspire for 2 years + and have a FICO score of 775. Only recently been reading last 10-20 pages... so can I apply for another Amex card using someone else's referral link? Or do I need to use GT again? I've seen others getting up to 4 US Amex cards all via GT. Obviously using a referral link, may help the referrer get a bonus.

As for ITIN, I suppose I will need to get one if I want to apply for other banks cards such as from Chase? To get ITIN, the cheapest option is via Fiverr? Is it only a once off fee?

You’ll be able to apply for another card through referrals with a FICO score, not necessary to do GT. You can still do that if you want, but as you’ve said, doing it via referrals helps the referrer too.

Regarding ITIN, that’s correct, will need it to apply with other banks. I used SH studios as others above have, great experience, got my ITIN much quicker to what I was prepared to wait for. Although that might be down to the IRS’s processing time, but still service was great. Might need to either renew or submit tax returns to keep the ITIN number active.

Thanks for the reply! For next Amex cards, which cards are recommended?

I guess with the ITIN, if there's a renewal fee, then it'd be best to apply as many cards as possible in the 12 months? And of course if I want to get Chase cards, I need to be mindful of 5/24 rule yeah.

ITIN lasts for 3 years.

You can’t apply using a referral link without an itin or ssn .

I read that’s only for the purpose of filing tax returns. One can still use it to apply for cards .

IRS will not reuse ITIN so the number is kinda yours forever. People have been getting the cards with expired ITIN. However, I read one case about Chase denying the app based on the expired ITIN. The main issue was that he applied for the first card with the expired ITIN. I guess Chase saw the notice date on the ITIN letter and asked to see if he had filed tax instead. Or he was just unlucky getting the CSR who cared about ITIN being too old. I only heard this story about 2 times. Many people got Chase cards with expired ITIN just fine but it might be because it wasn't the first card.

Still not sure if it's worth renewing it. I forgot about mine and it already expired. It will be funny if Chase asks for tax returns anyway as they will see your very low income and might reject your app plus it might affect your other existing accounts. Maybe easier to let the app expire and reapply.

It probably depends on your use case. Whether you’re after co-brand cards or MR points?

Yeah I forgot to mention as others have, that it lasts for 3 years. Yes velocity of applications probably matter for other balls like Citi and Chase.

I thought ITIN numbers go back into a pool once expired? Or perhaps once expired and after a long period of time, pretty sure I saw that somewhere. Would it be cheaper, quicker and lesser of a hassle to do a tax return as opposed to reapplying for an ITIN? What would happen to your credit history too though, if your ITIN number that cards are tied to changes?

I never heard it would go back to the pool. IRS normally gives you the same number if you decide to renew after it has expired. I only heard people said it was yours forever. I/they could be wrong though. There is no guarantee that it will not change.

Okay that’s great! I mean, I hope you’re right. That works out the best for us.

If it doesn't cost much, I believe it is still safer to do tax and keep ITIN valid. You never know what will happen in the future. I only heard a few people talking about banks flagging ITIN as expired when it's too old and wanting to see the tax transcript as proof which is not a good thing for us to send. Need more data point.

Some good info.

Q12: When an individual renews their ITIN will they retain the same ITIN or receive a new one?
A12: Once an ITIN is assigned, it belongs to that taxpayer, unless the ITIN has been revoked. When an individual renews their ITIN, the previously assigned number is renewed.

Q8: How will the taxpayer know that their ITIN is renewed? Will they receive a letter? If so, what is the notice number?
A8: You will receive Notice CP565 when your ITIN is renewed.

Looks like if I run into the old ITIN issue in the future, I can do tax and renew ITIN which IRS will send a new CP565 (ITIN letter) and don't have to worry about sending a tax transcript. Will forget about it for now.

Agreed. Might be a quicker process too, not necessarily simpler perhaps.

This is an interesting turn of events.

I applied for CSP 25/4. I called the status line on 25 and 26. 7-10 days. Most likely looking for confirmation that I applied. I called 26/4 US time and asked about it. Was requested to submit a ITIN and address verification.

Now before apply, I was expecting to be declined since I was declined for WoH back in March (whether due to application location or the Equifax issue). Now with address verification, the listed accepted documents didn't include a bank statement as an accepted document so I was fully expecting to get declined. The CS Rep did mention that the ITIN should have my full address on the letter for verification so I hoped that it would be accepted.

I submitted my ITIN for SSN/ITN verification and ITIN + Bank statement for address verification and two hours later I was approved. I'm a little shocked and I would have preferred to keep a slot open if I knew I would have been approved by not applying the Amex Gold.

This puts me at 4/24 (Aspire, Gold, Green, and CSP). Bummer since I would like WoH and IHG and I won't drop back down to 4/24 until March 2024. So that means that I might not be able to apply for anything between my next card and March 2024 with Chase if I want both WoH and IHG.

Never planned to get CSP but here I am. Still have VX, S1, WoH, IHG in my sights so that's something I need to plan out.

Just an FYI, I applied for WoH without a VPN and was flagged with fraud even when I provided requested documents. This time I applied for CSP with a VPN in my "home" state and no issues with fraud.

I recall upthread someone mentioned being flagged for fraud when they used their CSP overseas. Any idea how I can manage or pre-empt it for my new card?

FWIW, my Experian score is 726 with Amex and 706 with C1 (when I was declined by them).

Edit: Google Fi didn't seem to work for authentication texts from Chase either :(
