Strategy to obtain US Amex

bit of drama with this promo. Have you received a refund of $124 from Clear?

Happened to me. Free $124 in each Amex account. Not complaining if that sticks.

Edit: Actually, free $199 now lol

Finally got my Amex Aspire US card in my hands....took ages for US relative to forward it!

Got it activated etc and set up in Samsung Pay. 4 Qs pls.

1. There is no ability to set up a PIN with the card, is there? (I remember reading somewhere that US credit cards don't usually have a PIN)

2. I set up auropay 15 days from statement closing date from my US HSBC Premier checking account....any disadvantages doing that? I will use WISE to TF money to US HSBC acct from time to time.

3. When do I get the free Hilton night certificate after opening account? (I have expensive Hilton stay in late May)

4. Do I need to keep my US Tello number (US$5 per month)...so far all authorisation codes have the option to come via email.

Many thanks again.

You can set up a PIN in the AMEX account online

I would keep the Tello number, you never know when you might need it.

1) Not sure - but i’ve never needed one
2) You’ll probably pay slightly more in fees withdrawing Wise to HSBC. Any reason why you’re not pulling the Autopay in from Wise directly and cutting HSBC out of the loop? I don’t use autopay, but I do do an ACH pull via Amex straight from Wise
3) 8-10 weeks apparently - still waiting on mine
4) Not 100% needed ongoing - but useful to have (and often needed for future new card applications)
