Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

The spreadsheet has been updated to this post.

Please use the following format:

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned

* Indicate if CC fee included
~ If known

Please PM me any suggestions you have to improve it, to save this thread becoming distracted from its intended purpose.

This is the link to the Google Docs spreadsheet
which is able to be viewed by all (but not edited, to maintain consistency).

No other information is to be posted, please use the other threads for this, just keep this thread to factual information only

Any discussion about ASAs can occur here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....m/confirmed-qf-removing-cheap-asas-48705.html

And here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/has-anyone-had-success-call-51720.html

There have been a lot of posts due to the DSC, so please direct any comments or questions into the relevant thread to make it easier for me to do the updates, and to stop me getting grumpy.

Some posts unrelated to the spreadsheet have been deleted, so the 'post #' column may not be strictly accurate. Thanks to the mods for keeping this thread on topic.

Thanks,

Jess.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Based on discussion in the above mentioned threads I have added a tab to the spreadsheet listing some of the indirect routings that provide better SC for your $/pts.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | SCs earned
DEC 13 | Mar - Apr 14 | J | BNE-SIN-SYD-BNE| 160,000 | $739.44 inc. CC fee ($30)| 280

Tried to book BNE-SIN-KUL-SIN-SYD-BNE as a JASA, but due to SIN-KUL-SIN being JetstarAsia all X class flight only, quote came back as 120 000 points and $3504 copay or 550000 ish points with no copay. Was told could not do as an JASA due to X class. So told her to requote and drop the SIN-KUL-SIN section and came back 120000 points and $961.45 (BNE-SIN-SYD-BNE). Elected to pay a bit less and use a few more points.
I can buy the SIN-KUL-SIN direct from Jetstar Asia for $175 return and earn points and SC or 12800 points on a classic fare.
Margaret the CSO knew what she was doing, but still had me on hold for 10 to 15 min while she tried to sort out the SIN-KUL-SIN sector. All up on the phone for 30 min until her computer crashed and she offered to ring me back when she was up again, she proptly rang back about 15 min later and all was sorted. Not too painful thankfully, all due to the help of all on these forums, Thanks

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Hi

I have just finalised two successful bookings with a first rate CSO, Carol, who knew exactly what she was doing and processed everything very efficiently. The entire call took 13:30 and a good proportion of that was chat - it turns out that many years ago she worked in the same town in Ireland where my dad was born. Without that it would have been under 10 minutes.

Thanks to the combined wisdom and experience of the people here, I had all my data sorted before making the call; the ASA change summary instructions were also spot on.

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned

Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | ASP-MEL-CBR | 72000 | $584 (may need to edit this) | $213.28 | 185600 | 200 with DSC | Booking and co-pays are for 2 pax; max points & SCs for 1
Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | CBR-MEL-ADL | 48000 | $208.20 | $167.20 | 106800 | 160 with DSC | Booking and co-pays are for 2 pax; max points & SCs for 1

I have sorted the spreadsheet into alphabetical order based on departure city. I hope this helps the usability.

Thanks heaps. That's exactly how I've been using it... downloading a local copy into Excel, adding filters and sorting. A great way to drill down and focus when planning trips... aka Status Runs ;)

Spoke to Tricia tonight for 20 minutes and booked the following:

Dec 13 | Sept 14 | J | SYD-SIN | 60000 | $405 + 30 (cc) | $297 | ? | 120

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just a very minor edit to my post at #224, now that the transaction has come through on my credit card statement. The $584 referenced in the ASP-MEL-CBR trip is actually $578.92. Not much of a difference, but I thought I'd pass it on for the sake of accuracy.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

My first one of these. :D The booking is for two so all the points and cost X 2.

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | SCs earned
DEC 13 | NOV 14 | F | MEL-LAX | 144,000 | $714.87 + $7 CC | 270 SC

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Date | Cabin | Route | Points | Co-pay | credit-card? | Max points cost (if known) | SCs earned

JAN14 | U |
CBR-SYD-HBA-SYD-CBR | 32000 | $300 | Credit card $7 charge | Max points 67000 | SC

This is the first time booking... took about 30 mins. Second call. First person had no idea.

Out of interest whats the difference between J and U class or is it the same thing?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned
Nov 13 | Jan 14 | J | BNE-MEL-SYD-BNE | 56000 | 353.95 | ?? | ?? | 140
Dec13 | Jan 14 | J| BNE-SYD| 16000 | 104.89 | 35.39 | ?? | 40
Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | SYD-BNE | 16000 | 104.89 | 35.39 | ?? | 40

Both CSOs knew exactly what to do when I said 'book classic award as any seat award'. In the case of the second call, for the second and third bookings, total call time on Skype was 16:35. Wait time - about an hour ago - zero. Thumbs up to the QF CC from me.

Cheers skip
