Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Hi Jess,

I am going to try to get this into the right format for you (I hope)

Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-PER-KTA-PER-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD | 293K POINTS (ALL Points) | 600 SC's (but I have a DSC, so 1200 if I am right)

Needed to be booked as 2 trips, first being SYD-TSV return, the second TSV-KTA

Is over a total of 3 days, I have an overnight in Perth on day 1, and an overnight in Brisbane for day 2, home in the afternoon of Day 3 to drag myself into bed and sleep.. going to be some long days, but it will get me to LTG before my June 30 renewal and the first time I have taken advantage of a DSC
Can you give me a breakdown of the two rtn flights? I.e. SYD-TSV and TSV-KTA?

Ta,

Jess.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned

Dec13 | Jan14 | Business (U) |ADL-MEL-ADL| 32,000 | $218 + $7 | ? | ? | 80* (160 DSC)

Booked with a very friendly Melbourne CSA in less than 7 min :)

Not the poster, but I expect they were just priced as one.
The SYD-TSV-SYD should be 86k all in or (48k + $349)
So TSV-KTA-TSV by deduction 209k

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Hi All

Just booked a couple of runs (20 mins and 2 secs including the thank you at the end)

Dec13 | Jan14 | Business (U) |ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL| 48,000 | $363.60 + $7 | ? | ? | 240* (480 DSC)

Dec13 | Jan14 | Business (U) |ADL-SYD-CBR| 24,000 | $97.77 + $7 | ? | ? | 100* (200 DSC)

Will just book a red edeal for the return as I couldn't find anything that worked for me.

"Karen" (not sure where from) was very professional but had to check the min points for ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL and said that it was an anomaly that has been identified and will be corrected (to 72000). I was informed that I may not be able to book this in the future. :( if there is anyone wanting to take advantage of this. Now is your chance. Hurry!

Should this be posted elsewhere so that everyone is altered to the possible end to the value of this route? :( I will leave it up to the mods to decide.

P.S thank you all for your assistance.

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points | Co-pay | credit-card? | Max points cost (if known) | SCs earned | Classic co-pay*

Dec 2013 | Dec 2014 | FIRST | MEL-LHR | 253,000 | 0.00 | No | 253,000 | 360 | 192,000 + AU $732

Qantas agent had no problem booking it, went through very quickly.

She did hint that booking classic awards in ASA booking classes would not be around for much longer (or words to that effect).

Dec 13 | Dec 13 | J | ADL MEL BNE TSV BNE SYD ADL | 48,000 | $530 inc c/c fee| 320 SC

Jess, can you please amend this one as QF did not honour it when ticketing. It ended up being:

Dec 13 | Dec 13 | J | ADL BNE TSV BNE ADL | 48,000 | $360 inc c/c fee| 240 SC

+1, booked today.

Wouldn't it be funny if we are on the same flights.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

And another.
Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned
Dec13 | Jan14 | Business (U) |SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD| 48,000 | $349.52 + $7 | 48,000 + $125.52 + $7 | 86,200 | 200* (400 DSC)

Had an operator who was a bit unsure,
but after referencing the RoQ guide was ok.
Took a 16min phone call.

Take me to 1,090 SCs which will make my end-Jun renewal a lot more comfortable given I am predominately flying VA domestically.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Here's hoping that this line is easy to copy into the spreadsheet (formatted exactly per the sheet):

P# Book Date Travel date Cabin Route Points Co-pay Cl co-pay Max Points SCs Posted by Comment
276 Dec 13 Jan 14 J CBR-MEL-PER-SYD-CBR 72,000 $545.44 (+$7) $169.55 129,612 240 OzEire DSC returns 480

So, today I reached a CSR who was a bit unsure "You can ONLY book these online" but after I corrected that notion he straight away said "I'll put you through to the premium desk who should know what to do".

I quoted the flights I wanted to the premium CSR, all seemed to be going well until her system crashed. As it reloaded we chatted, firstly about the phone booking fee which went something like "I need to make you aware that there is a booking fee of $35 or 3,500 points... oh, wait a minute, no you can't do these online so I can waive that."

Then I mentioned that it would be much easier and quicker for everyone if I COULD do this online. She concurred and said, "I believe that *WILL BE POSSIBLE AGAIN SOON*, but for now it seems THEY want you to book these on the phone."

Interesting.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Not sure if this is a useful data point (I didn't book it in the end because I didn't want to pay this much for what was effectively a status run):

Booked Travel Class Route Points ASA Co-pay Classic Co-Pay Max Points SC
Dec13 Jan14 J CBR-BNE-SYD-DRW-SYD-MEL-CBR 100,000 $932.99 (+$7 cc fee) $254.99 ? 320 (DSC 640)

Still, not too bad for 640 SC (and still avail Aus Day weekend if anyone is keen). A Red e-Deal flight CBR-DRW return via anywhere is about $550 so even the co-pay is good value for J, but I thought this plus the points would be a bridge too far.

Others have had these long-winded routings re-engineered post booking so perhaps mine would have been a candidate for that treatment had I booked it.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Just booked these this evening as a last grab at the DSC offer.

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned

Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | BNE-ADL-PER-BNE | 96,000 | $614 + $7 | $124.62 | ? | 220 (440)
Note: The Classic Award for this came up as 72,000 points about 5 minutes before I called. Someone beat me to it ? Booked anyway even @ 96,000.

Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | BNE-TSV-BNE | 48,000 | $290.92 + $7 | $76.92 | ? | 120 (240)
Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | BNE-SYD-BNE | 32,000 | $209.78 + $7 | $70.78 | ? | 80 (160)

Dec 13 | Jan 14 | J | BNE-MEL-PER-BNE | 96,000 | $596.47 + $7 | $113.47 | ? | 220 (440)
Note: The Classic Award for this comes up as 86,000 points.

Took about 25 minutes, including around 3-4 minutes on hold. Unfortunately I forgot to write down the nice lady's name.

I only need 300 SC to make WP, but booked up a few runs because I wasn't sure which I'd be able to take - will cancel the others.

Numbers in brackets are with DSC.

Dec 30 / Jan 2014/ J / SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD / 48,000 pts / $356.52 / hopefully 400SC (includes $7 CC fee)
Many thanks Jessica Tam, spreadsheet was a great help

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost~ | SCs earned

Jan14 | Dec14 | F | LAX-MEL-CBR | 144,000 | $1016 | $US469 | 261,000 | 310

No cc or booking fee. The max points cost is from memory so may be slightly off. MEL-CBR is in business, not first, of course. Given similar bookings on the most excellent spreadsheet resource (thank you Jessica Tam and all who contribute / help), the co-pay of $1016 feels a little high. Appreciate any views.

But process was pretty simple this time and has posted already correctly as an ASA.

This thread was really helpful, but I wish I knew about status runs last year when I was only a couple of hundred credits off platinum. I just had no idea! Well now I've been educated, but there is so much still to learn. Great site - thanks to all.
