Hopefully going to be booking this trip in the future:

SYD-SIN-FRA(~2 wk stopover)-JFK

Will be trying to get all Suites Saver for 2 pax. May 2017. Flexibility includes on the leaving date and the length of the stopover in Frankfurt (will be doing a Spain trip).

Any plan of attack? Chances of being able to do it? Can't wait until close in for a waitlist to clear.

SQ opens up award space 355 days prior. So my 2cents would be to get an idea on your dates, and try and book T-355. And prior to booking, have an idea of your preferred flight combinations :)

Would I be booking SYD-FRA when the window for the date opens and then add on FRA-JFK 2-3 weeks later or book SYD-JFK and then change the FRA-JFK to a later date.

I have a feeling this is going to be very tedious which I guess is my punishment for trying to maximize the redemption with the FRA-JFK "free" leg. Right now SYD-JFK is bookable A380 all the way but just SYD-FRA is waitlist which I've read can be the case.

Probably better points-wise to book SYD-FRA-JFK as one, then watch like a hawk until suitable date for FRA-JFK is available as its own sector, then call up and ask them to do a stopover. It will be a $100USD fee.

I did just this on a recent trip to the USA. Worked nicely, and my flight changes were actually much closer to travel date (within 4 months)
I think you're in with a good shot. FRA-JFK was pretty empty on my flight (3 pax).

Peter

I've put a couple of F savers on waitlist for Sep, one SIN-MEL and another SIN-ICN.
Two questions to SQ experts:

1. Will SQ release more seats closer to date or I have to rely on existing seat cancelations.
2. What are my chances, based on past experiences to get successful outcome on the above routes (both are day flights).

No one here has any experience with waitlist on these routes?

I want to book syd-sin-fra-JFK-FRA-sin-syd in July 2017. What's my best bet for ensuring I don't lose the T-355 availability that pops up whilst ensuring I don't get pounded with extra points or fees as I want to book it as a return R redemption with the free stopover (well, 3 pax: 2 at saver and 1 at standard, for our family of 3).

It would be a bit risky but you could book a return within a couple of days of availability opening (ie out T-352 return T-355) then use the free date change to move the return leg out further when those dates open up.

Personally if my dates were firm I would just wear the $100USD pp fee for the stop over and book it a 2 one ways at T-355 each.

Boomy no definitive answer to your query re extra seats opening up - plenty times waitlists do clear closer to dep - but no guarantee.

SIN-ICN I have zero exp - your MEL WL is it specific date / time you require? Nothing else that day / a day either side you can confirm?

There were 7 Suites taken yesterday so we used 2 of the spares for dinner and used our A seats as our bedrooms. Superb service and yes I went the Krug and caviar with icy vodka.
At terminal two at Heathrow Mrscove was treated like a mystery shopper with a toilet survey. I did think that was funny.

Thought maybe there was a known system of releasing extra seats as on some other airlines (6 months/14 days etc).

All flights in F on that day or the next either to MEL or SYD are waitlist only at the moment.

I think I'll book backups in J using LMs and pay $US100 cancellation fees if F opens up.

The mind boggles!

Not that I am aware of

So waitlist all flt combos that day and each day either side and let it play out. Never be backward in calling KF every few weeks to ask if they can give your preferred WL a boost along - agents cannot pull seats out of air but they can send off requests to loading control requesting release for you.

Had a friend stay over last night. Plenty of pyjamas in the house – SQ F of all sizes.

Impressively, she even managed to turn the top into daywear the next morning. Wore it out to breakfast. Impressed with its versatility!

For me, these pants (I'm wearing them now) are the most comfortable things on earth.

Have never had the the privilege to fly SQ F but my LH F pajamas bottoms are my favourite from five years ago!

you don't find them hot? i'm always sweating bullets wearing both the old and new PJs unless it's in the middle of winter!

Actually, yes – that is my one complaint. I find when I sleep in them, I leave my feet hanging out the side of the doona as they are too hot.

But for just lounging around the house (or on a plane), they're perfect.

I feel the same about my old black QF jarm bottoms from about 10 years ago. Nothing else comes close. What colour are the SQ jarms?
