I'm very flexible...but it's trying to get hotel bookings done too: I've got a few Hyatt DSUs expiring in ~1 week so I want to do a NY/Euro trip to use them at Park Hyatts.

FWIW I'm trying to get FRA-JFK SQ R 11 months out and can't get anything ideal 2-3 dates either side of my preferred date...

Flying F and then R in a few weeks time :)
LHR to SYD
We have SQ319 (F on the 777)LHR to SIN and then SQ221 (R on the a380) SIN to SYD
We are also waitlisted on the SQ321 from LHR to SIN, which is the A380 and therefore R class....

I notice that SQ 319 states 'dinner' while SQ 321 states 'supper' as the meal option. is there much difference? Obviously we would prefer suites all the way, but not at the cost of a 'reduced' meal service. Any thoughts? This is of course all academic unless the waitlist clears....

SQ has a couple of variations of 'supper'. It can mean a substantial meal, just one or two courses short of dinner (may exclude caviar, and sometimes drop the dedicated soup course etc), or it can mean a limited choice of what is essentially a snack either after take-off or before landing (which includes some short overnight flights, including some to and from Australia).

Oh and does anyone know if SQ319 is the 'new' F class? How do I tell?

319 will be new F baring late plane substitution. You can't tell until you track the outbound plane on flightradar24. You must ask yourself what's more important the bed or the food?

Currently in the MEL Flounge awaiting round 1 of Krug therapy on SQ228 (new F today by the look of flightradar24:cool: ) . Then round 2 begins in R on the way to ZRH (opps nearly forgot round 1.5 in the TPR with PH Rare!) Oh the crosses we must bare:shock: . Then on to GVA on Swiss for the annual pilgrimage to the French Alps.
Ok officially not a suites saver it's actually a *A first redemption to be techniqually correct but you can't do a *A redemption without saver availability so minor point .
I'll be popping my EY cherry on the way home in F ( I suppose it's as good a place as any to pop an airline cherry). Many questions to be answered:-
How a la carte is the a la carte menu?
is it really dine anytime?
is the chef on board any good?
Or is it all just a gimmic?
Not caring too much as it gets me home from Europe with only A$52.50 in taxes. Happy days indeed:lol:

A la carte is a la carte.

Yes really is dine anytime, but the chef isn't on duty the whole flight so a normal FA might do your cooking.

To me chef onboard is a gimmick, but as always it seems to be who you get. I've seen some reviews where the chef went the extra mile, but my experience has been poor. EY's service style isn't SQ.

No F lounge at AUH. Definitely not TPR level of service.

I reckon I need a lesson in taxes on redemption flights. I seem to pay a fortune whenever I redeem my points.....I just looked at BNE -JKT in J class with SQ and its over $360 :(

Have I mentioned that its only 28 sleeps until me and Mr Heg will be ensconced in first in F and then in R.....from LHR to SYD. :). The fact that we have EY j class on the outbound and a holiday in Portugal and London in-between is by the by...

head on over to the AA thread for minimal taxes, and stay away from LHR!

very nice! I've got JFK-FRA-SIN-MLE-SIN-SYD coming up in R later this month on the honeymoon. and Y for the SIN-MLE! luckily connecting from R so can have a shower and a meal in TPR before slumming it.

We booked EY with AA on the outbound and taxes were a mere $85 US. It was the inbound SQ that was the stinger. And yes -we booked from LHR..:(. In future I'm getting Queasy jet to Europe and then onwards from there...

Sorry should have clarified my EY redemption was booked thru VA. Exceptionally low taxes leaving GVA compared to other European departure ports and of course no fuel surcharge with VA unlike SQ.
The PH Rare in the TPR is going down a treat.;)
Just an update on the Changi Dollars. Just picked up a fresh bunch and the program has been extended to March 2017, but beware your old vouchers may have the March 2016 date so spend up.

I've put a couple of F savers on waitlist for Sep, one SIN-MEL and another SIN-ICN.
Two questions to SQ experts:

1. Will SQ release more seats closer to date or I have to rely on existing seat cancelations.
2. What are my chances, based on past experiences to get successful outcome on the above routes (both are day flights).

Just got ZRH-SIN-PER booked in Suites & J on the 772 for January next year

It was really easy this time no need to muck around with waitlists due to no quota like my last mixed redemption.

The agent allocated me 2C&D but thought just in case there was a need for someone to use the bassinet seats it was probably best to take row 3 while it was available.

Will also be on EY Apartments AUH-LHR on the way over so will be looking forward to seeing who comes out on top.

I know it is too late now but for next time if you reversed the itinerary and added a short trip from somewhere else in Europe you would have paid less taxes.

For example using AA miles going DUB-LHR-AUH-BNE would drop the UK APD. The SQ YQ is unavoidable but at least you are not paying an additional 180GBP just to dep LHR.

i know, but we are doing enough flying as it is on this trip . Our first destination is Faro and then we have to be in London for a week. We are flying BNE-AUH-LHR /LGW-FAO- on 19/20th then FAO-LGW. on 26th . The thought of another flight from London to Europe before we start our trip home was too much to bear in such a short space of time.
