Don't forget ronicat mixed class rdpt with R out of ZRH gives you TPR access in SIN during transit - check in in ZRH may or may not hand you TPR invitation - maybe not as they will see SIN-PER sector in J - but that is no biggie - you will have paid F rates all the way so you are entitled to F benefits. Just point that out to staff at lounge entry they will understand and can readily check if any confusion.

FWIW the Senator Lounge in ZRH pre dep is very ordinary - FRA much better if poss to position there for return to Oz. But enjoy every second of that Suites sector back to SIN.

Has anyone had any experience with trying to book a multi-city suites award flight that does not show up on the booking engine?
eg. I'm planning for SYD-xSIN-LHR, with SYD-SIN on SQ232 (1215-1735), overnighting then taking SIN-LHR on SQ308 (0910-1520), 15 hours later. That would be preferred over taking SIN-LHR on SQ322 (2345-0555) if I want to maximise A380 aircraft and have a look around SIN.
I can't select multi-city for award flights, only revenue bookings.

Yes Kangol I have done this several times - you just need to have definite plans and call KF to see if the sectors can be linked - if they can you are good to go.

Obviously pending availability, you can definitely book this over the phone. That said, it should appear online without doing a multi-city (i.e. a regular award booking). Connections under 24 hours should show as an option.

Edit: Why am I so slow!

Thanks to both of you. Are you suggesting that they may be able to bypass any "married segments" issues?

Just have your desired flts noted and call and ask - if they can link / marry / connect the sectors they will - if they cannot they will quickly tell you - there is limited redemption inventory on all flts but you never know until you ask.

Married segments can only be sold together - two or more flight segments that have no availability individually, but will show when a specified origin and destination are selected. It is very difficult get around married segments.

Two or more flight segments, each with their own availability to be sold separately, may not show as a through routing for all sorts of reasons including capacity controls or simply limited by the number of connecting options a booking engine will show.

Having those booked on the one ticket is not 'marrying' the segments. You're just wanting to take advantage of the through fare rather than pay for individual sectors.

Note also that mobile apps can sometimes pull up more options than you get via a PC.

Hey guys,

Hoping for a bit of advice re waitlistings. Currently have a confirmed booking PVG-SIN-MEL with a waitlist on the SIN-MEL leg for a flight about 3 hours earlier. Waitlisted on the 29th of Dec and was wondering if there are any tips that I can do to get that cleared.

Booking is for 2 pax in J for the whole way. 1 seat looks available if I do a dummy booking but we'd like to fly back together ideally. Is the best course of action to call and ask nicely?

Any and all input appreciated - TIA

Yes call and explain situation - agent may be able to help - you can only ask.

Let us know how it goes. I was asking earlier about this but decided to book MEL-LHR as "married/connecting" flights. I'm thinking about adjusting the itinerary now, so might try and call them today to see if I can change dates and book 2 separate O/W tickets MEL-SIN and SIN-LHR with a 27hr stopover.

Ok, so finally got around to calling the call centre. Sorry, forgot who I spoke to, but it was a male.

Changed my MEL-LHR flight to add stop over in SIN and also to a different date, 2 days later. There was no availability on the website for MEL-LHR on 22/8, but there was for MEL-SIN (22/8) and then SIN-LHR (23/8) the next morning, both on the 380s.
SQ 218 (dep MEL 0005) and SQ 308 (dep SIN 0905).

Got charged stop over fee and also airport tax for SIN which I wasn't expecting but makes sense. Is that normal?
So it comes to ~$566 for 2 pax. No change in point redemption though, which was the main thing.

Then got my flight home changed from CDG departure to ZRH departure and also for different date, both flights on the 380 and also got refund for taxes, which I was told would happen in a few weeks.

He said itinerary will take a few days to change.

edit:
One other thing, I assume for my MEL-SIN & SIN-LHR trip I won't be allowed to pick up the Transit vouchers since flights are >24hrs apart?

Sounds like a pretty good result all round ninja - are you happy?
Yeah quite happy. Happy it could be done and was done. I was passenger #2 on the return trip and the missus was passenger #1 so I didn't think they could change it since I wasn't the primary passenger. So that was a plus. Happy I get to spend extra few days in europe, so Might spend them in zurich before we fly home. Sad that it's gonna cost more money :( I was initially just going to go for 2 weeks, to fit in Venice/Satorini/Paris, but not it's 3.5 weeks and added Lyon and Zurich to the trip. Now for the internal flights.

Didn't have high expectations it could be done since others have said they were denied due to quotas etc.

Didn't really want to be stuck on red eye flights on the majority of the trip. Plus now we get to try all the different meals (breaky, lunch, dinner, supper).

Oh just received an email invoice re: penalty fee of $18 AUD. I was not notified in advance while on the phone and as I have only received my new tickets for the MEL-LHR flight it references my MEL-LHR ticket and not the missus' ticket I'm really unsure what reason the penalty is for.

Is this normal practice? I will definitely need to call again tomorrow to clarify what it's in relation to.

I hope I won't be hit with another penalty for the return flight when those tickets get re-issued.

I won't be booking this soon but will definitely report back once the time comes.

$18AUD ($12USD) probably relates to: Online change of route, cabin class or award type for tickets issued for flights on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir

I'm hoping to book a suite award for two pax LAX-NRT-SIN-BKK for Feb next year, and reading through the thread to make sure I have a decent chance of snagging one. SIN-BKK does not have F at all, so I know I'll need to call in to book, and ask to make sure I get the 15% discount.

Starting dummy bookings now near the edge of availability, I can usually see NRT-SIN there for the furthest away couple of days, which is good. I don't see any saver level on LAX-NRT, and often not even standard. Am I right in assuming they are just snatched up really quickly, rather than them not releasing award seats at the start?

I'm not too sure on the waitlisting. Assuming availability for the other segmetns, would I be able to get LAX-NRT as Saver J with a waitlist on F, NRT-SIN in Saver F, and SIN-BKK in Saver J - then if LAX-NRT cleared the waitlist into F it would not require any more points since it's already taken as a F award anyway?

Currently sitting in the Private Room having breakfast
Departing on SQ211 this morning in F.
It took me three days of calls to convert my J confirmed flight to my wait listed F, even after receiving a confirmation email that my wait list had come through.
The F checkin was busy this morning with 4 other desks being used when we were there.
Unfortunately today in the restaurant there is a man and his wife having a FaceTime call on their iPad.
Very annoying.
Whilst we were away this trip I finalised our Suites flights FRA-SIN-SYD late July and a return trip to AMS in December, SIN-SYD in R, the rest in J.
White Christmas this year for us, to coincide with a big birthday for me.
