Suites savers now available

I thought opening up multiple pages with the same IP address will error the additional tabs as you can only have one booking screen open?

Just tried it again and have CDG/SYD June 19 to June 26 open on neighbouring tabs.

Too many people must be reading AFF as looks like 30+ suite saver seats have gone since I booked earlier this week.

Ahh, I maybe once you go to the next page (booking details) that you can't have multiple pages open?

Good tip. Makes searching so much faster.

DaveB we have the same in our family with niece,SIL ,2 sons, girlfriends , wife and myself all going Suites. I think it is the Krug but my wife just loves her own space.

I really don't think SQ understands how special their R product is.

My daughter really surprised me happy to take the long route to Toronto including forking out of her own pocket.
A few months ago, she did a similar stance booking to come home for Xmas on suites from LAX to SYD. The recent schedule changes meant the loss of R so we cancelled the SQ booking and is now coming back on VA direct.

Also always using points, we always go for R regardless of saver/standard charges. Typically fly F only due to availability issues rather than any value for money concerns particularly when the J cabin in 1-2-1 configuration is a real winner.

With the F cabins so large and the 380's a small part of the SQ fleet, surprises me why SQ does not retrofit suites. Maybe we could start some form of collective feedback on how much business SQ are losing.

The Australian disease - an example

As a pedantic exercise, after reading a Pointhacks article on 'what are your points worth?' I decided to have a look at the cost (if paying cash) for the SuiteSaver redemptions.

One way:
  • CDG/SYD came out as AUD 6,604.25
  • SYD/CDG blew out as AUD 8,670.85

near enough to $2,000 more expensive to fly out of Australia.

Curiosity got the best of me so I priced up the returns for good measure:

  • CDG/SYD = AUD 11,112.59
  • SYD/CDG = AUD 13,259.20

What a surprise - $2,100 more expensive.

Now since the departure taxes, flying times, labour costs, fuel costs etc should be close enough to identical - seems like out & out discrimination.

Time for the new Fed Govt to adopt measures to stamp out this "Anti-Australia" tax imposed on its citizens!

### Moral of the story - plan your future flights as far ahead as possible and begin the first trip as a one-way el-cheapo and all flights after that as overseas to Aust returns (ideally).

BTW on the value of those points...

If you had the Krisflyer points already, then on the above figures and 'cash fees' charged, it worked out as 5.39 cents per point (CDG/SYD ow)

If you had to transfer VFF points to get the Krisflyer points, then 3.99 cents per point.

Ram it is always nice to see how much we are saving. Have a family member coming back in Suites today. Apparently 11 Suites are filled today out of 12. He used my miles so his saving is a little bigger....

I have R booked next Wed SIN-PVG - only 5hrs but ATPIT my seat is showing only seat selected - could it be a repeat of this?

This is the welcome you receive when only pax in R!

Wow one day I will start doing photos but only once my brain goes foggy.
Great SQ pose.....well done on that one.

Have just booked LHR-SIN-PER...(mixed booking Suites and business) and had heated discussion with very friendly and professional SA ticket person about No. of miles required....(Last 8 redemptions have been 97750 after 15% discount)
140000 less the 15% = 119000.....I explained the zones and and that I know you have to pay !st class all the way through, no problem....still insistant....the issue is because its a mixed fare ?????
Anyway just a word of caution, check the award saver charts so you have an idea of the milage required, before you start the booking phone call.....I didn't want to HUACA in-case she had some how held the seats and availability may have disappeared.
Finally they agreed to honour 97750 miles.....because they have quoted that on previous redemptions!!**

@citrusb - I had very same prob only 2 days ago - mixed class rdpt PEK-SIN in J then SIN-MEL in F - had to book this way as I have to be home by a certain time on a certain date - I had my #1 girl set up the booking for me - J conf 1st sector and WL F and J 2nd sector - F cleared 1st so I called back when Eli had finished work and left for the day - KF rep I spoke to was pricing it as 2 separate bookings even though both sectors clearly on one Booking Confirmation - I had to ask for Supervisor as she just would not budge.

Call dropped out and I had to call back - got another Agent who also was insistent on total pts reqd at 2 separate booking rates - prolonged arguing and clearly explained to him where he was wrong - after putting me on hold and speaking to his supervisor for 5 mins or so we eventually got over the line.

So YES - KF rdpt rate chart readily available - get your facts right before calling them.

as you're in perth you should have been Zone 8- zone 11 is 115 at the full whack hence your 97,750

us eastcoasters should be zone 9 - zone 11 but that is still 132,500 - who knows where they pulled the 140k from (that's the USA-AUS rate)

That was where my confusion came from...couldn't understand how the milage was worked out...but as CE has just said, I think priced as two seperate sectors...she went await twice to check with supervisors as I was getting persistant, and still couldn't work it out....anyway just a caution for any new players on the forum.....

Had a "situation" today.

Logged on to clear some waitlists (O).

Hit a snag with the SQ AMEX card - declined by the vigilant fraud department [had two waitlist clearances in a row; first one went through OK; second one was declined].

Called up SQ after clarifying with Westpac.

"... Sorry Sir, please cancel the booking and re-book it again...." i.e. go througth the waitlist lottery again ????

HUACA worked better "... Leave it to me...."

Tickets were issued after CC details were provided - a new booking ref was generated for the same (O) ride.

A little disappointed with the initial response.

LESSON: call up the bank before clearing 2-3 waitlists to avoid wasting 45 min on the phone.

PS: once declined, the waitlisted booking has no option for repeat payment.

Does anyone know if SQ212 Aircraft type: (Boeing 777-300ER) is worth redeeming first class over business class?

It's still going to be a 1-2-1 configuration regardless of Business or First.

Also being a day flight I would not bother spending the extra for First.

I'm exactly the opposite. Prefer F service during the day when I'll be awake to experience it to its fullest... if I'm just going to sleep, the difference between F and J isn't so important to me.

I was in suites a couple,of days ago SYD-SIN-LHR. Whilst I loved the suite (A380), I looked in at J and it looked just fine and I would be happy to be there if I can never get the points to go suites again. I can't specifically comment on whether J in the A380 is any different to J on a 777.
