I'm still looking at flying JFK-FRA-SIN-MEL. Only problem is, I can't find space on the JFK-FRA leg. Would it be possible to book the FRA-MEL leg, and then waitlist the JFK-FRA leg with the hope of combining it onto the FRA-MEL leg if it becomes available? [with reduced milage required of course].
I'm currently thinking of booking BA 1st from JFK to europe as a backup & with any luck cancelling that if SQ come through?

Also, what do people think my chances are getting 2 seats on the SQ JFK-FRA? Seems like a very popular route..

Cheers. :)

slim to none? ;)

very tough route - fine if you're 11 months out, or a solo traveller. generally the USA routes with an A380 are tough given the generous card reward schemes over there and the mass of people!

Pretty much what I thought. I am looking to book 11 months out, but there's no availability & there are two of us travelling. I'm guess solo travellers and people with status will have first dibs on the waitlisted seats even if we get in first?

It's a great feeling. Where are you off to?

Anyone share some tips on waitlisting SQ Suites?

I have SFO-SIN-MEL x 2 J booked in Janruary but would really like to gets Suites on the SIN-MEL leg if possible, knowing there is only the 1 A380 flight per day.

I've got the miles in my VA account so can transfer across but don't really want to unless my chances of the WL clearing are above 50%. Or is it just a gamble?

Is it still possible to book mixed J/R saver redemption for 63750 miles for BKK-SIN-SYD or SYD-SIN-BKK? I have spoken to the call centre 2x recently and both times they insisted it would be 80750 miles. I wanted to do a stopover if possible in SIN too and have previously been able to do so for $100US fee but haven't had any luck with the call center this time around.

If your dates are between 17 Jan and 28 Jan then I'd not hold out much hope. However if you are likely to earn enough points in the ensuing period before the transferred points are due to expire then I'd go for the long shot anyway.

If not then try to enjoy the business ones....

Was going for Jan 13/14th for 2 pax. I guess I'll just keep an eye out on it and move them closer to the date possibly.

My biggest concern is that I would have to ring SQ call centre and do a mixed redemption booking. SFO-SIN in J and SIN-MEL in F - I've heard that can be a pain in the backside at times.

..and potentially costly if they charge it at F despite mixed booking.

As far as the call centre goes - on balance they have been better than any other airline's in recent years.

Exactly my thinking - Even though SFO-SIN route doesn't offer F.

If I can pull it of great! If not.. save them for next time!

I managed to book 2 adjoining seats in suites for mid this month SYD-SIN. I couldn't get the call centre to book in our next sector SIN-BKK a few days later with the US$100 stop over fee though. I don't think they even knew their own rules.

I remember reading somewhere someone posting the contact details of a call centre number where the staff are really helpful and understand the systems. Does anyone remember it?

+61 2 8228 1188 - Sydney number that dials direct through to KF Singapore call ctr - the only number to ever call for all matters re SQ rdpts.

Thanks, that's the number I called and I don't think the agent know how to do mixed class bookings to SYD-BKK at 63,750 let alone with the paid stopover added. I wish I could do it myself on the website. Anyway we are still flying in suites class SYD-SIN for next to nothing, can't complain about that.

Call back and get another agent - if you do not get satisfaction ask for a Manager - don't get off the phone until you get set - what you are trying to do is nothing complicated - KF have quite a few newer staff and most of them are not that experienced as yet - be nice - be patient - be satisfied or keep pushing.

Counting down the days...

Enjoy the suites.

Rookie mistake on our redemption - not realising that NY rtn only a few points more than Eur Rtn and the $100 stopover...

Won't make that mistake for the 2018 flight redemptions.
