Pretty much what Harvyk said :D
I love everything about flying and I don't know how many flights I would have to take before the novelty wears off. Hopefully never

Me too! I also like the personal greeting by the CSM, even when flying Y. :)

Qantas had an ad campaign - early 90s I think - & we snapped Dad in front of it on arrival back in Melbourne . The poster said 'Isn't it Great to be Back Home' . The first time he'd been back to England since emigrating 40 years before. He'd always barrack for the Poms in cricket, and follow the coverage of English soccer, & as a grumpy old Pommy B was very fond of criticising 'you Australians' . It was the only time I ever heard him say, yes, this is home, this is the best country in the world.

Isn't it great that after all the squillions of miles flown, and the thousands of different flights by AFF'ers, there is still joy and excitement in flying!

Weird I know, but the immigration procedures side of things.
Will I get popped or pinged on arrival back into Australia from overseas.
Like the possibility of opposite of winning lotto!

Definitely take-off: specifically, the couple of minutes from the precise moment when the front wheels leave the ground.
Freedom from email and phone and, except on rare occasions, conversation. Sometimes it enables uninterrupted working time, but also thinking time and simple resting time.
Unfamiliar scenery form the air: central Australian deserts, Mekong Delta, Ayer's Rock, oil wells in the Gulf at night, Washington, any pacific atoll ... but also some old favourites that constantly change like Sydney Harbour and Moreton Bay at different times of the day.
The button that converts the seat to a flatbed.
Getting to the top of the stairs on the 747 Upper Deck.
The pre-TO drink: that's the real beginning of the flight for me.
And the landing at Venice in December 1978 (when the weather was closing airports all over Europe) after an announcement from the captain that went like this: "As you can see, there is no visibility. We will make one attempt to land at Marco Polo airport and, if that is unsuccessful, we will divert to Rimini" The Venetians on board were appalled at the thought of landing at Rimini; the rest of us spent the next little while contemplating the consequences of an "unsuccessful landing." For the record, the (successful) landing was one of the smoothest I've ever experienced.

When your boarding pass beeps at the gate and the GA hands you a new one with an F seat.

You just know the next 16 hours are going to be awesome.

Personally...I love everything about the experience.
But, from the minute the car heads out of the driveway, the holiday is ON...the phones, emails fade away...
There is only 1 pre-requisite I have for flying...
That the plane lands in exactly the same condition it was in when it left the terminal !!

I enjoy all aspects of flying, but in particular arriving as early as possible for the lounge to sit and enjoy the immediate prospects of the journey in relative peace and quiet in the ambient of fellow journeymen/women.

For me it's coming in to land at Auckland, my home airport. Regardless of the exotic destination or the length of time away, there's nothing like sharing it with family & friends.

When we upgrade/win the lottery to J, hubby and I always toast the pre TO champers with "Business Class coughes are Back!".
If we are on our own we will text it to the other. It always makes me giggle and is a big part of the joy of flying

Possibly only people who have travelled with young children will appreciate this but its those times you travel without them and knowing you can actually enjoy that time pre flight in the waiting area (lounge or not) and READ YOUR BOOK and then on the plane get to actually eat your own meal and drink your own drink and read your book and watch your movie and not be constantly on the alert to spillages, toilet runs, seat kickers, whiners, or any of the other aspects of the travelling parent-of -small-children experience
