The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

I am not sure if this has been previously mentioned or not:

The gap between Covid and other vaccines (like flu-shots) has been reduced from 14 days to 7 days. That means that you can get either vaccine one week after the other.

Shame Anastacia didn't get this advice or she could have had Astra Zeneca. Keep the dog out and she would have had time.

Vaccination stakes update. Every week I hope to see us moving up a few places, but it isn’t happening. One of the problems is the slow down at weekends. We are currently sitting in 80th place and should overtake Russia and possibly Bulgaria tomorrow. However South Korea, Cuba, Jordan and Fiji have all opened quite a gap.

Meet the cold chain nurse 'babysitting' COVID-19 vaccinations at Melbourne pop-up clinics

Cold chain nurse Evita Arce is one of a dozen cohealth employees getting ready to provide COVID-19 vaccinations at pop-up clinics throughout Melbourne's suburbs.
"I usually call my vaccines my babies because I look after them," she said.
"I babysit them the whole shift."
Ms Arce is the sole person charged with caring for the vaccines, from the moment she picks them up from the pharmac_ until the dose has been drawn up and administered at a temporary vaccination centre.
.....

Pop-up clinic set up within hours

The Reservoir clinic was established in response to Victoria's fourth lockdown, when demand for COVID vaccinations spiked in Melbourne's north.
At 8am on May 31, cohealth's assistant director of medical, Ashley Nind, was standing alone in an empty basketball stadium assessing if the site would be suitable for a pop-up.
Four hours later they were set up, and by day's end more than 60 people had received vaccinations.
The Reservoir site is one of five outreach clinics being operated by cohealth today, with more sites due to open at public housing towers in Williamstown and Carlton over the weekend.
"We try to support the most vulnerable residents, particularly around what we call the HRA properties – high risk accommodation," Mr Nind said.
"Because of … the disproportionate number of cases that came from the high rises the department [of health] have asked us to set up a clinic in the community rooms at the base of some of those towers."

"There are some people that won't attend a mass vaccination site — it is intimidating, it's quite daunting in its nature."
Most of the cohealth community health clinics are walk in and Ms Arce said they were being embraced by local residents.
"It's really exciting to be able to engage with different people in the community," she said.
"They are thankful for what we are doing, especially older people who cannot travel a long way."

Lower than last Friday - possibly due to people not wanting to feel ill over the long weekend…..

There appears to be something going wrong with these figures.

For W.A., according to the three subsidiary tables listing the 'place' of vaccination there were 11,305 doses given yesterday yet the "Total's" table shows no figure. Further, the total doses for W.A is shown as 520,684 - yet the figures for Thursday show a total of 531,912 doses already given. It appears that the vaccinations given in WA yesterday were deducted from the total rather than being added. This means that the National coughulative total appears to be around 20,000 vaccinations less than it actually should be.

Weirdly the overall totals are correct, but the WA total displayed is not in that one table.

These are the Fed figures.

So WA = 209272+299425+34520 = 543217

She had plenty of time before the dog "incident" and the flu shot to get AZ like other state premiers. Seemingly all too convenient. I wish they'd press her about the real reason rather than the 'good' reasons she has given.

Vaccinations down about 25% on previous Saturday. Hope it’s a consequence of the long weekend, rather than a continuing slide. The next week will see the first of the 1B people getting their second jabs. I have 2 friends being vaccinated today and they were very proactive in getting appointments once 1B opened up. So the fully vaccinated figure should increase nicely - the trick will to keep the first jabs flowing.

Maybe some marketing guru could step up to the plate and get things moving.
We are actually teetering on the brink of getting respectable figures. 25% of adults with a first jab and another 3 or 4 % fully vaccinated.

don’t understand why we haven’t got a decent campaign going - maybe waiting until it’s open to everyone over 16?

Yes, there’s little point running ads when most of the people targeted aren’t even eligible yet. Not sure they’d wait till 16 year olds are eligible though to do an ad campaign. Most under 40s are still ineligible to get vaccinated.

I can see a scenario where they open up to the next age group as soon as demand drops off. So 30 to 39 next and then over 16s. Then launch a big campaign to mop up the rest (and maybe even some sticks).
