The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Do tell, as that is not the experience of too many.

Think of it as a Public Service Announcement on how to get the 'Golden Ticket' for those who are in Phase 1A or 1B in Greater Sydney.
Don't know about now, but I was looking at jabs for myself at the beginning of April when I realised I was in 1B and then friends throughout April and May (this for AZ) and there was never a problem with getting an appointment in multiple places in central/inner Sydney at a couple of days notice.

I ended up getting mine in northern NSW (again same day appointments were available) but many other friends did their jabs in Sydney.

But it is not a race.
Who said that? Has anyone seen him? He seems to have vanished again. Doesn't hold a hose, needle or a press conference it seems. Mind you, not that the latter would add anything.

Oh yes I see...he said his 'not a race comment', which was made on Mar 31, was in relation to vaccine approvals.

Pfizer was approved for use by the TGA on Jan 25.

AZ was approved for use by the TGA on Feb 16.

For those over 65s who had their first AZ and now want to wait for Pfizer and want to go cruising think again. The major cruise lines including Princess will not accept mixing AZ/Pfizer as being fully vaccinated.

And was challenged in his slow vaccine rollout. The same radio station that read out my email to Simon Birmingham earlier this week.

Now we have a lockdown in SA, everyone is complaining they can't get a vaccination appointment before mid August for AZ. 🙇🏼‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

That as you know, was always my concern.

And I read that re: Springsteen on Broadway (once a NJ girl, always a NJ girl), they were not accepting 2 doses of AZ as fully vaccinated because the US FDA had not approved. This meant that many Canadian Springsteen fans who considered themselves fully vaccinated were not entitled to purchase tickets/enter the venue. While I have no idea how they went about checking vaccine status, it shows how even once we are vaccinated, there will be other issues to be hammered out. As the US is the first place I want to go to visit my family, given I am vaccinated with the AZ, I am eager for the FDA to approve AZ, if only for the benefit of people who received the vaccine in other countries.

Hopefully they approve vaccines as effective whether or not they make any decision as to whether they consider them as safe to use. If someone has taken an effective vaccine it shouldn't matter whether it is considered safe or not as to whether to give people their freedoms back.

So two doses of both would be the way to go ??? (quip).

I know it's potentially a bit naughty but if I get out of Fortress Australia into the UK and at that point they are still not accepting Australian jabs (of any flavour) as sufficient to get you out of home quarantine (arrivals from amber countries with UK (only) administered vaccines get to skip quarantine), then I am considering getting jabbed over there too.

Australia is green. No quarantine.

But if you want to go to the UK and visit Europe then go back to the UK...

Some of us may only want to go to the UK to see family at this point, but that's not the situation for everybody.

If we can't travel till mid next year or later we'll likely have had a booster shot before travel one would think or be encouraged to have one before travelling.

And which will be a mix. I'm expecting a booster around early May for us. Moderna or Pfizer.

Fortunately we have travelled extensively in the US.We love the place but with 2 years already ruled out for travel we have decided we will not be returning to the US.So our AZ vaccine certificates will be just fine for us.

Only if you fly via Singapore or, as of this week, Hong Kong.

As mviy says, this would be with a view to visiting Europe, where I have close friends. Much as I love my parents and vice versa, spending three plus months living with them would be difficult for them and for us, as we would be invading their space and interrupting their routines. A respite for a little while would benefit everyone I think. We'll see. It's just a thought at the moment. Not least as I don't have a permit!

As expected now that yesterday's numbers are in now more than 1/7 of the 16+ population has had both jabs. Over 60% of the 50+ population has had their first jab.

When today's numbers come out tomorrow it's likely that more than 1/3 of the 70+ population will have had both jabs.

When today's numbers come out tomorrow the 50+ 2nd dose rate should be close to 20% but might not quite reach it.

These projections are based on extrapolating the change from Monday's figures to Tuesday's figures to come up with an estimate for today's figures that come out tomorrow.

And the weekly total just hit 1 million. I am pretty sure it’s the first time. When Greg Hunt announced a million vaccinations previously it was over 8 days. So woo hoo I guess - just need to keep it up and increase!

Same re: USA - if/when I get there, I am going to get Pfizer (2 doses) to top up my AZ!

I agree - but I am fairly cynical as to how it will work if not approved by the FDA.
