The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

we haven’t really seen any evidence that we are moving beyond ramshackle bootstrap-system.

There should be no excuse for having to ring round different clinics and different channel. It ought to take no longer than 2 minutes to find an book any available nearby slot.

The government has (almost) everyone’s details through Medicare, most people have My Health Record - we could have followed the UK model and be calling people in for their shots.

We could have people in high streets with tablets signing people up
Bootstrap system? We have online & phone booking system, can book at 000's GP's or many hubs. Not sure what planet you live in but that's rather the norm.

No excuse to ring around, well if your searching for GP with availability to suit your exact time requirements, of course your going to need to ring around a little, otherwise book a hub, 2min or 5mins what's the difference if your asking for times at various hubs in your capital city.

The gov use you Medicare records to call everybody, yeah you can't see the back lash over that one? Gee.

Signing ppl up on the street? Have you ever seen how ppl deal with being hassled on the street with ppl with tablets? There'll be more tablets in the Yarra River than yellow O-Bikes.

Your world not the real world we live in.

"Hotspots forced to wait for vaccines" and another story "PM regrets 'not a race' remarks but vows to catch up"
Catch up with what? It’s a comment that will come back to haunt him at election time…which is also ‘not a race’. The opposition don’t have to win, all the incumbents have to do is lose….
I’m astounded by all the people here who, on the one hand are saying hurry up and get vaxxed, and on the other hand saying the booking systems are fine and people just need to try harder to get vaxxed.

There should be no excuse for having to ring round different clinics and different channel. It ought to take no longer than 2 minutes to find an book any available nearby slot. We should actually have priority for priority groups and actively finding them and inviting them.
I’m amazed each time I read about how easy it is. I attempted to use the dysfunctional Victoria system to book a first shot, and gave up when I realised that it was a circular set of links, and that even though it had a button that more or less said ‘make a booking’, it didn’t actually mean it. I eventually just walked in. Getting a second booking was every bit as bad; after ringing up, waiting on hold, I eventually got someone who didn’t actually want to make the booking. I’m still not totally convinced that she actually made it.

Basically the booking system was nothing other than a hurdle, and I’m sure it caused many people to just give up.
We could have people in high streets with tablets signing people up, going into high risk workplaces, pubs, anywhere.

The system isn’t working until booking a shot is as easy as it needs to be to get everyone vaccinated. (I was trying to come up with a user apology like as easy as booking a table at a restaurant or as easy as calling an Uber but even these would exclude too many users)
They’re all the things that should be happening if they were serious. This is nothing short of a war, and they don’t stop at night, or at the weekend.

Oh, and my GP’s booking number still doesn’t actually answer. GPs strike me as yet another hurdle.

I suspect that Australia is now many planets, and not all are anywhere near as efficient as the others.

And where does being hassled come into it?
Your world not the real world we live in.
It’s not a world that he’s alone in, so perhaps you should consider that not everyone lives in yours. I see the booking systems as nothing short of appalling. GPs are not people that everyone want to see, or should even have to. The system is broken, and just because it works for some does not mean it works.

I wouldn’t say most
I meant most of those who jumped in at that time.

From the four weeks after mid May, daily average Jabs jumped by 50% over the April average; most of those would have been AZ.

That's 750K second Jabs in the coming 4 weeks for those alone.

You think other countries aren't divided? We're on on own in that regard, yeah ok.
And where does being hassled come into it?
Sorry not hassled, just ppl with tablets coming upto ppl in the street, You can be assured a get vac'd tablet holding person attempts to communicate with a non vaxer & how that'll end.
It's confrontational at times, seem it so many times.

We should all consider everyone's life is different to each others, I was just pointing out that this poster claiming all is like his.

re the booking system was so easy, I say again ppl here in Aus are the biggest whingers, take the world title, it's nonstop oh it's too hard, it should be better, easier, served on a platter for me, oh my!
Just get on with it, life that is...oh that's right you can't get on with it, cos it's all so bloody hard, let's complain some more, christ!!

As regards people with tablets on the streets that does seem to be occurring in at least a minor way. A couple of days ago I was at a large shopping centre and there was a'pop up' vaccination booth. It had 2 people with Tablets and signs asking people to stop and make an appointment for vaccination. I am not sure if it was a Federal or State Govt. set up but it seemed to certainly be a 'Government' operation. I assumed this was a normal activity.

Yes, there was mention of SA doing similar a couple of weeks ago but it seems to have gone AWOL of late. And now with lockdowns can't happen as shopping centres pretty much dead. Making a booking for someone who can't otherwise seem to be able to use the system is a great idea. But well, what would we know.

I believe the %% should be taken from 16+ yo's as that's what age can actaully take the tiny harmless needle & even then it's really 40+yo, barring a few youngies, eg mivy.

16+ is 36.3% & 14.5%

nul

As those statistics using total population are meaningless.

The real statistics (based on who the vaccines have been generally approved for) as of yesterday are:

14.5% Fully Vaccinated & 36.5% with First Dose.

Yesterday's numbers have been released!

Now finally over 1/3 of 70+ population has had their 2nd dose.

We have reached 20.00% of 50+ population having had their 2nd dose. I wasn't sure we'd quite get there yesterday, but we did!

Just under 15% (14.98%) of 16+ population has had their 2nd dose.

Every 5 year age group 70-74 and older has had over 30% with 2nd dose, and 75-79 and over has over 1/3 with 2nd dose.

Over 1/3 of all 5 year age groups 40-44 and up have had their first dose.

49.02% of the 70+ population in the NT has received their 2nd dose. This may go over 50% when today's numbers are published tomorrow, the first state or territory to achieve this. Considering their 2nd dose for 16+ is 24.98%, they should go past 25% with 2nd dose for 16+ tomorrow as well.

And I think that’s another record day - 184,500
