The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

And all done. Tiniest jab ever. Waiting for 15 minutes now.
Did they book you in then and there for the second shot?

Curious as to what time period they are using there have been conflicting gaps given.

I know that many of you in 1b are patiently waiting. But bear in mind 1a is not yet complete either. The vaccination program hasn't yet reached my partners 95yo grandmother's aged care home yet. The goverrnment website (health.gov.au) indicates up to you 1.4m does required for 1a... that's up to 700,000 people. Covid live indicates to date (and let's roundup), 300,000 vaccinations have been administered. So still a way to go to get to 1a, let alone 1b.

Out of interest where (state?) is that aged care home. Thankfully all my grandparents were done weeks ago with Pfizer.

Melbourne. By contrast, I understand my aunt in regional Vic was vaccinated shortly (2 or 3 days) after they started with aged care homes.

Swmbo , with a truckload of persistence as the gp's phone ran hot, has us both booked in for next thurs am.
I am personally ambivalent but will feel much more relaxed when swmbo is under the brolly

Tremendous, well done! Nothing too much to complain about there, eh? 😉 😄

Most of 1a is aged care and disability care residents and workers and that cohort is roughly 500,000. According to Covid live 58,358 doses have been delivered by the Commonwealth and they are the ones doing aged care and disability. So yes a long way to go. Also we don’t know of that 58,000 how many are second doses, so number of people could be even less than that. It does look like most of the other people in 1a have been done (states responsible for them), which is why they have moved to 1b

I think I posted way back that the CHO said they would be starting 1b before 1a was complete, especially given many of those would be getting AZ. And that 1A is very much institutionally organised whereas 1b was the start of vaccination through GP clinics and the like. Everyone I know in 1A has had one vaccination (in aged care and frontline medical) but I do agree others haven't.

It is also likely given the 12 week gap that stage 2 will commence before all 1b have finalised their series.

Well I’m aware of some 1a frontline health care workers in different States that have not been done. I guess they will be moved to 1b since there are healthcare workers there. Hopefully quarantine workers and applicable family (where included in State sponsored coverage) have been completed.

With the GP AZ Vaccination now kicking off it will be interesting to see how the numbers start spiking up over the course of the week.

I think in SA those are yesterday's numbers (Sunday). We always seem a bit behind....I know the clinic I went to were doing 6 every hour for 6 hours.

Another thing I learned. The clinic staff haven't had their shots but they will be done with any 'leftovers' each day. Very efficient. They prepare up to 10 injections at a time to save time as they aren't allowed to 'draw up' in front of the patient and they line them up on the bench. I saw four boxes in their fridge and each contains 100 doses. They also write down the batch and serial numbers on the consent form you sign and give that back to you for reference.

Back online I went today and one of our preferred sites came up.Unfortunately appointments online only to the day before we want to go.That is after back from WA.

Nothing in WA that you can get your hands on?

Interestingly, clinics labelled “respirator clinics” have 1000 vaccines a week available from what I’ve been told, while “normal” clinics are still waiting. No delays here for example..

My usual clinic in the Brisbane area has been told not to expect any doses until late April. They haven’t been told how many doses as yet.

Anyway, when I looked online I managed to locate a clinic about 30 minutes away that had some appointments available.

I'm finding that the online booking sites are not 100%.
The one that I picked from both hot doc and health engine isn't actually bookable on line and is only accepting phone bookings for their patients.
The other 2 I have decided on are both bookable but one is only on hot doc and one on health engine. So I picked the one I could do on their own website.

Respiratory clinics were funded by the federal government to assess Covid symptoms, test and give advice. They are GP clinics but added in the Covid functions. They now do vaccinations and is where Ms FM got an appointment when her normal GP wasn’t able to give her an appointment. Hopefully now CSL produced vaccine is available supply will be less of a problem!

Both hotdoc and healthengine are fine and safe to use. My usual clinic uses healthengine for usual bookings. The respiratory clinics seem to use hotdoc.
