None outside trials and those were halted when TTS was discovered.
Pfizer and Moderna undertaking trials.
Expected that Pfizer will get Emergency Approval from FDA in the USA for 5-12 yrs soon maybe September.

I dont believe AZ is approved for under 18s in Australia.
Even phizer is only provisionally approved down to 12 yo and the priority is those with underlying health conditions.

NSW might have made a stuff up of their lockdown, but their vaccination push is leaving other states trailing in their wake.

I think it is more that the fear of catching Covid has made many willing to get AZ so that with the barriers for 18+ to get vaccinated with it have been removed. Then add the extra Pfizer made available in NSW and you get a zooming vaccination rate. But yes it was most welcome to see the vaccination messaging change in NSW from you can get AZ to you should get whatever vaccine you can. And for the changes to first and secnd doses to enable the vaccination rate to be sped up.

Ditto now in Vic on both the first two counts. The "draw -forward" Pfizer only started in Vic on Friday, though will be at a lower level, and so it will be interesting to see what vaccinations are achieved from Monday in Victoria which is when the 18+ for AZ starts to really ramp up. Hopefully we will see a further good jump in vaccinations in Victoria now as well. And even better if it happened in all jurisdictions.


It is just a pity that nationally we had those barriers to getting AZ in the first place, including all the mixed messaging on it.

The most important message is that everyone who is currently eligible for a TGA approved vaccine
PFIZER for 16 years plus and
AZ for 18 years plus should go through your state and territory booking processes and the GP network and get an appointment as soon as you can.
We can no longer take a sit back and wait, she’ll be right attitude. The current outbreak in NSW could happen anywhere. Don’t wait until happens to your state or territory
This isn’t just to protect you as an individual it’s also vital to protecting your family and friends.

Like many of you I am totally over Covid but we have a safe way out, Let’s take it.

It would certainly be great for boosters in a few years time. Over the next few years it won't help though.

Stage 1 could be in production in 18 months.
Stage 2 yes is after that at an all new facility.

However they need access to an actual mRNA CV Vaccine. So a licence from Moderna or Pfizer which are both known to work. Or that hopefully one of the mRNA vaccines being developed in Australia will become a suitable candidate.

Well this article is certainly saying that boosters will be required if you have had Pfizer at the recommended 3 week interval.

This study was from the Mayo clinic.
The real world experience in the UK and Canada that the ideal time between Pfizer jabs was longer than 3 weeks. ...

WILL happen, everywhere. It’s quite literally inevitable. I think people are SLOWLY and finally beginning to realise that this outbreak is like the tide, it’s coming for all of us, just a matter of time.

The scientific trials of long term AZ protection have nothing to do with NSW, nor Australia but what happens in clinical trials overseas.

In SA at 9am tomorrow, Covid vaccinations open up to all. Apparently the Noarlunga clinic has a lot of appointments and there is a similar one up north. Worth a trip if you can't get one close to home. Noarlunga is in that new and never used Hardware chain that tried to compete with Bunnings and failed. It's working extremely well and have not heard of any issues on the usual socials page. Open every day. SIL who works there told me that 150 people just didn't show up last Sunday. They don't waste the vaccinations though as they keep a very tight reign on 'just in time' preparation. If there are the odd one or two left over then they approach the admin staff outside the clinic but that's not often needed. Two separate pharmacists who only prepare one of Pfizer or AZ. All Pfizer personnel are dressed in pink as are all the various pieces of equipment. SIL is usually a pink vaccinator. I think AZ is all yellow. She usually vaccinates 50 people a day.
