The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

QF10? Does that mean they are bound for Melbourne?

I think the batch testing has been done in Sydney, not sure if they can do this at other locations.

He might mean QF110 which was the callsign last time.

The first lot of UK Pfizer was on both QF10 and QF110
This lot is on QF10 and is currently in its way to SYD

Ah right, looks like they're using QF10 for LHR-PER-SYD flights and QF110 for LHR-DRW-SYD flights. The 787 terminates in DRW and the rest of the flight is operated by an A333.

Yes QF110 was a freight only flight and the vaccines and some other freight and Mail were offloaded and sent on a A333 for the DRW-SYD leg.
QF10 had passengers to PER and then freight only on to SYD.

Great Front Page - Daily Telegraph - “It’s Up To Us” - it talks of freedoms only being given back when vaccine targets are met.

I was a bit surprised by Gladys's announcement today that she and Brad are scaling back the press conference to largely a NSW Health announcement. I would have thought this month was critical to keep hammering home the get vaccinated so we can hit 70% message.

I think the “you can’t go to the pub until you get vaccinated” makes that irrelevant.

Yes, although I remember a key piece of information on change management, most people require key messages to be reinforced a minimum of 3 times and some require a lot more than that. This has certainly been true in my experience.

If there’s a state you need to worry about not reaching 80%, it’s not NSW.

The last quarantine failure that gave us the Delta outbreak came from the lack of detail in orders. I understand that the Government is juggling many balls as it approaches opening up and need to get their focus right. So the vaccine roll-out is key, but with many LGAs already over 80% single jab, then they probably feel confident about reaching the 70% double dose for the initial relaxation of lockdown.

It's not reaching it I'm concerned about but reaching it as early as possible. Yes, I know we'll get there but still feel we need to push people to get it done quickly. The vaccination rate has definitely dropped off in NSW and in my view every bit of continued pressure will help.

This reads like a bit of over confidence we are already there to me.

I think the motivation for some of the remainder will be actually seeing their own restrictions when the remainder are allowed out again. Simply repeating the same message each day may not do it.

On what basis do you say that?

I'm not aware of international Pfizer deliveries being delivered to anywhere other than SYD

It could be CBR as that is the main location for the TGA, perhaps they've sent staff to SYD or they are driving samples back to their lab.

I was just talking about what airport the vaccines will land in, wasn't trying to suggest I know exactly the ground location for where they are getting tested. It really doesn't matter, I was responding to the question asking if the flight was going to land in Melbourne.

Each way bet then and you had no basis for saying you think testing is in Sydney = Completely speculative as was your previous comment as to testing location.
TGA is based in Canberra.
They do have a testing lab in Symonston ACT which is south of Fsyshwick.
There are satellite testing labs - I dont know the locations of those

Lets not speculate, or if speculating - say "speculating"

(Now the testing location is really a moot point. Dressing up a speculative comment is.)

Yes, I had considered the possibility of that, and that we will see Gladys back again for 'special' announcements which may have greater impact. If so that would be good.

All are going to SYD currently. SYD has the only suitable storage facilities
What's the difference???

Where do they put them in Melbourne when they transport them from Sydney to Melbourne? This question would apply to every State/Territory....

They have sent some previously to MEL and PER but the current lot is all heading to SYD currently. SYD has the bulk of the superfreezers so the preference was to send the majority there and then distribute. SYD is also a better distribution hub so DHL made the decision to base it there

If special announcement happen once per week or less frequently, I doubt anyone would bother tuning in. When do you recall the last infrastructure announcement (pre-covid)? Infrastructure was the last big thing I guess. So if the NSW Premier decides to make another plea on vaccine rollout, no one is going to care.
