So daily vaccinations must be just about to greatly increase. Possibly did today, and if so we will know when the numbers are announced tomorrow.
Frewen and Hunt:
Well, good afternoon, everybody. This is fantastic news about the additional million Moderna that we are about to receive from Europe. This is in addition to what we were anticipating in the rollout, and this now means that we will have more than 11 million doses of mRNA available in September, and this will be followed by 12 million doses in October and then 12 million doses in November. This means many additional appointments.
Though note that there may be some lag from becoming available to actually getting into an arm. We also know that a lot more GPs and Pharmacists will be added over the next 4 weeks.
Plus there are still first and second dose AZ occurring at present, and second doses at least will seem some AZ for another month or two. So that is in addition to the numbers above. But I will ignore those AZ number for this exercise.
Pfizer and Moderna:
- So far in September 22,802,573 - 20,028,084 = 2.8 million doses or 230K per day (Some will have been AZ though).
- 16 days to go. So roughly 8+ million doses to go or 500K per day.
- 12 million in Oct would be roughly 390K per day.
So speculating we will quite possibly not average that 500K per day for rest of Sept as there are many more GP's and Pharmacists still coming on board over the next 4 weeks, though some of these additional GPs/Pharmacists are meant to be vaccinating as of this week. But each week should ramp up on the previous week.
If so, October will probably be more that 390K per day as it soaks up the overs from September. All assuming that enough people present in a timely manner.
And joining the over 16s there are now 1.2 million 12 to 15 year olds now eligible to be vaccinated.
JOHN FREWEN:
Thanks, Minister. So you've heard today by the middle of October, we have enough vaccine to fully vaccinate all the eligible population. So we have the vaccines. I'll say again, it's now just about people turning up. We have just opened up to the 12 to 15 year olds. That's 1.2 million additional people. So we just want to bed that in for the next week or two.
The over 60s are the last piece of the puzzle, but I will acknowledge that our over 70s now are at 90 per cent first dose and 70 per cent fully vaccinated, and our over 60s are also up in that same sort of close to 90 per cent first dose as well.
So I mean, there is very, very good coverage in that age group already, but we will be looking at that as the next priority to open up. But right now we're just keen to get the 12 to 15 year olds through.
