The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Trying to look at commercial seats SIN LHR. Apparently one can’t, you have to use points? QF - gimme a break here.

I am pretty sure that is all due to their rights in SIN and if you do make a points booking it won't be on QF metal or if it is, it will be via Australia.

Tried to book a points redemption DXB to STN on a specific flight as needing to get to Cambridge. STN is not a valid airport code according to Qantas.

Enter DXB - LHR instead, returns DXB - STN as an option.

What's more fun is that the work experience kids have left the flights bookable with cash if you use the multi-city booking query. 🤷‍♂️

Was looking for SYD - SIN Reward flights, and found MH J seats for cheaper than MH Y seats!

Can anyone explain what's going on here?

No, but if they’re classic rewards - take them.

Mind you, QF J CR ought to be much less than 75k oneway.

Maybe one is a Classic Reward and the other an any seat? Take the cheaper J.
What's an "any" seat? It doesn't look like a points+pay based on taxes and round points figure...

QF only do daytime flights, I'm looking for a red-eye.

MH Y is $700 return for the dates I'm looking for which is a pretty good deal. Also don't need J for this trip
Was interested in seeing if Qantas had reward availability...

”Any seat” is a points equivalent of a cash fare. Stay well clear of those!

A phrase I’ve never seen mentioned on AFF before!

Why would you want a “red-eye”? As an aside, there’s a QF codeshare on EK ex MEL that might suit your needs.

More time in the SYD F lounge? 🤣
Thanks for the recommendation for EK ex MEL... don't think F lounge is open that late though

Could it be the economy one is actually a mix class booking? I.e. oneof the flight is in J (or F) and the other one in Y, and the cost is the sum of those individual segments? If you click on the Y, it might raise a warning "your flight between A and B is in C class".

yeah this will definitely be it. But if you click through to close to the checkout screen, I *think* it should reprice to 75,000. It's just the way the search engine works, it doesn't compute all the pricing options until you click through. I've seen this on QF metal mixed class bookings too.

Qantas have full rights to sell from Singapore using their own metal.

It was odd. That IT gripe extended to other booking engines, ie I looked for the same flights on other sites like Expedia and you couldn't book QF
