The FR24 appreciation thread

Taking a look at MEL to see effect of this afternoon's storm, and noted interesting formation coming over the bay.
Both labelled as QLK56 Devonport to Melbourne, and tracking closely with same altitude.
Assumed some sort of ghost signal from one aircraft, but interesting it is showing 2 different registrations VH-SBB, and VH-TQY.
Any ideas how that can happen ?

Using the playback on FR24 you can see the two different sources of data that FR24 are using. One is ADS-B and one is Australian Radar, both having different ICAO addresses.

My guess is that there has been an equipment swap from one aircraft to the other to cover an unserviceability. Codes and rego haven't been updated. It's my guess!

FR24 has decided it should be displayed as two aircraft.

BTW The distance between [-39.09755, 145.80511] and [-39.10502, 145.80704] in my screenshots is:
0.8459 km or 0.5256 mile

Air NZ must have too much fuel if they just want to go burning holes in the sky…

Interesting looking at the recent flights of the aircraft:
Thu 1 Feb. TPE-AKL diverted to GUM whilst enroute. It was actually already about an hour south of GUM when the diversion commenced. Landed in the early hours of Fri morning.
Fri 2 Feb. GUM-AKL scheduled after a couple of hours on the ground, but not flown. So I guess everyone headed off to hotels to get some sleep about dawn.
Sat 3 Feb. GUM-GUM afternoon test flight of two and a bit hours as shown in the image above.
Sat 3 Feb. Aircraft now scheduled for GUM-AKL again after about 90 minutes on the ground post test flight.

If Air NZ were doing right by their pax, looks like they got a free day and half stopover in Guam! (Edit: but of course, NZ don’t usually fly to GUM so sounds like usual lack of ground support nightmare… no info; pax sorting out own accom etc).

I am one the of passengers of this plane, feel really frustrated about the poor communication and slow responding by Air New Zealand. I had to book my own hotel since I am taking 2 little ones traveling with me after 5 hrs waiting from 2am in the morning and no proper food supplied, keep telling us that they are unsure situation.
This morning, again! our schedule had been postponed, again! Asking us being patient to wait another message..
Please Air New Zealand to find out other solutions to make sure that people can go back their life, kids need to go to school and I need to go back to work or refund the tickets, we will sort the way home. I have kept spending my money on food and accommodations to wait for the messages, it is really stressful.
it is a really poor customer service in this case.

Have flight paths out of SYD changed recently? A lot of ME carriers now fly over inner Canberra en route to DXB/DOH/AUH. In fact these flights now fly directly above the ADF headquarters, followed by perfect alignment over the Kings Ave bridge before directly flying over Parliament House and the Prime Minister’s Lodge…

My theory is that there is a conspiracy ... Russian, Chinese, or French

Nah. The Qataris🇶🇦 own a chunk of Sydney airport. Clearly they have infiltrated AirServices Australia and are directing their own flights over the National Capital.

Which reminds me

More amusement injected into AFF. Well played kangaloopy :)

Nicely Photoshopped.

is there an incident at Hobart ? BOM radar looks clear, but JQ759 appears to have done a couple of go arounds, and couple other flights diverting to Launceston
