The "I am in self-isolation" thread

Day 12 and I started using two 5 lb hand weights. Got my home work area tidied up and it looks good.
Looks like Australia is heading into a lock up of many more businesses than what we have now. So many jobs are vanishing.
Our business supplies agriculture and mining so we will probably be allowed to continue but with reduced staffing.
We are paying all our February creditors on Monday rather than Tuesday.
Internationally some of our suppliers are struggling to supply.

Well I looked around down in our basement and that was all i could find with a “boy look”. I do have some bigger all steel ones but they are hiding. I could have turned the other direction to the cellar, the pool table , the pinball machines or the soccer machine but I thought it was time for action.... The massage chair is there too and my skin graft has healed so I can do that too now.
i have the exercise bike on the balcony so I can watch the passing parade for my final 2 days of isolation. It is almost finished......

Um, lots people talking about coming out of self isolation and breathing a sigh of relief.

Could be wrong, but with current stay at home "request" more likely than not to be upgraded later in the week to an order (except for justifiable movement such as supermarket or chemist & similar), I would hazard a guess you better make good use of the next 2-3 days if you intending/need to do something else.

Yes I realise it could go on for a good while. I will want to go and get some stuff from the pharmac_ and go to some food supply places. The start of really major lockdowns might start pretty soon if the number of virus cases keep rising.

More than might and sooner than you think

A very relieved new member of this club.

Initially scheduled to return to Australia from London on Monday 30 March. Flight cancelled and rebooked on the QF10 Friday 27 March.

Sale Y fare converted to a full Y fare in the process, allowing me to submit a points upgrade.

Wake up on Friday morning, see news headlines and begin to worry, thinking I'll be spending 14 days in a hotel in Perth. Then see that it only applies from 11.59pm Saturday, meaning I'll arrive in Australia a mere 11 hours before the start of quarantine.

Many people at Heathrow panicking, with friends/family members on the evening QF2, which looked like it wouldn't make it before quarantine started.

As a bonus: point upgrade to PE, op-upped to J at the gate.

Very happy to be self-isolating at home rather than a hotel.

Well @levelnine with the assistance of family and friends plus our local shops we are nearing the end of our compulsory isolation at home. It’s been phone calls and package drops into our top carport and we stay inside. Our local street neighbours have been passing around emails so we haven’t been too lonely.
i really don’t want any of our local food supply shops to fail now that we have seen them going the extra steps for us.

One more sleep!!! And then hit the local shops and stock up for the seemimgly inevitable Lock-down

I don't understand this 'stock up before the lock down' talk. Is there some suspicion that grocery stores will close and/or deliveries stopped?

Groceries stores will certainly remain open, but there was a run on them in London in the few hours after the lock down was announced -- people panicking etc.

If anything, it would be more sensible to stock up on anything you need at hardware stores before the lock down. They may shut.

RooFlyer the food supply cannot be stopped.
i think there could be tightening announced today but food, medical/pharmac_, transport must keep operating.

The idea is to shop only for absolute necessities if there is a lockdown and not a full grocery weekly shop. Get in and get out ASAP. Life on the outside isn't all that much different from what you've been doing on the 14 day thing.

I simply do not want us to go out so I have enough at home for at least 2 weeks so we don't have to leave.

Nothing crazy but freezer is full and I got extra veggies that my Tupperware does a good job keeping fresh.

Well a lot has changed for me since I started this thread two weeks ago. The lockdown in Austria is ongoing, and has now been extended until at least mid-April. After all of the things that happened last week, I decided to pack up my apartment in Vienna and come home. (This in itself was not easy with all of the travel restrictions and flight cancellations - but it would only have gotten harder the longer I waited!) I'm now back in Australia and self-isolating in Canberra for 14 days.

I first read this as "self loathing in Canberra" 🤣
