Right, well apart from being bloody hilarious - you people are also very troubled and have far too much time on your hands!

For your information, I am currently sitting in the Lounge at Sydney airport, after succesfully making myself a grilled sandwich (kudos Virgin Australia: way to listen to your customers! - turkey and cheese... hmmmm) without even having darkened edges on the bread (admittedly I erred on the side of caution and went for the "ever-so-slightly-sun-kissed-toasted" approach!).

I have mised much these past few days so will log on once I am back in Melbourne in a couple of hours to respond to all the posts here - though I am also eager to hear about the BNE lounge... any news?

I called Virgin just now and they said August which is a major disappointment for me as this is my first time flying Business Class and to make it worse, their US partner (Alaska) has no shower facilities either.

I fly from NY -> LAX -> BNE -> CNS and not one shower facility on the whole trip. That's really poor.

There are plenty of showers on your trip once you get to BNE and CNS:

BNE
At the International Terminal, showers are available on Levels 2, 3 and 4, and Levels 1 and 2 of the Domestic Terminals. The shower facilities are free of charge.

CNS
All toilets including those in the baggage collection area have showers. Pack a towel and toiletries etc!

Having used both I would say that public ones might actually be better, you just have to provide a towel.

You don't travel with a bag? Travel towels aren't that big.

Perhaps the Lounge staff still have shower packs and not showers in the lounge, give them a call? As for my comments on the lounge showers, just wanted to say that was covering all airline lounges and showers, not the DJ ones!

Fair enough. I always travel with a towel, regardless of the class of travel I'm in as I have seen some horrendous towels, including lounges and in some 5star hotels :evil:

I guess it would be prudent to call up the lounges in advance and ask - they could probably arrange something for your arrival if they don't normally have it. Other than that - I would be hitting the cheap "Australian cough for tourists Store" and buying a (paper thin) Aussie flag or Opera House beach towel for $5 to use and them dump

I wouldn't recommend using a newly purchased towel, especially a cheap one, without having laundered it first. They tend not to dry you properly, and leave little bits of fluff all over you :shock: BYO.
