we are all Apple fans so it's just normal to stay up for any announcement or sleep in the cold to get the first one......

but to answer your question, we took a quick poll and the answer was ......... depends....

it's not earth shattering (eg Partnership with virgin Galactic) but is interesting to some people.....

After all it's a velocity rewards announcement ....

Why would DJ announce before midnight if they had am embargo on the info through to midnight? Wouldnt it make more sense for DJ to announce at the same time the embargo lifts?

12.01am seems pretty silly anyway, should be something like 9am or 10am.

This is standard media relations practice. It allows radio, newspaper and online to prepare their stories this afternoon/tonight ready for tomorrow, without the story running on TV tonight which would 'dilute' the story, making it 'old news' by the morning. This way everybody is prepared, but it remains 'tomorrow's news'.

I do it all the time when I want to give a certain journo/medium an "exclusive" or first dibs on a story. For example, if I want local radio to go first (for various reasons), I might send the release this afternoon, but embargo it until 4.59am tomorrow (the first radio bulletin is at 5am).

This of course, is separate to any requirements they have with regards to the ASX.

The Embargo ensures DJ gets to do the announcement FIRST, to do it under their control, via their channels and at their timing. Suspect you will learn it this evening in time to make the evening TV news circuits.

Then we wait for QF to play their next card.

Hard duty guys like waiting 6 hours for JQ29 Mel/Bkk in the QF F Lounge? Time for some more food and then another glass or 2 of Red. Delays are part of what makes the Lounges worth the effort.

If you ask me this whole thing is silly now,I was prepared to accept the drip feed of announcements
prior to the relaunch but this is turning into a circus now,like giving children easter eggs but telling them
they can't eat them till Sunday,if you want to make an announcement at midnight make it at midnight
but don't play us for fools with this '5 special AFF'ers"lunch malarkey.
This announcement at 12:01 had better be awesome or the chance that I will move my fairly substantial
travel budget to DJ will be very slight.
