Had an op-up SYD-BNE yesterday.

I originally had 23D on 767 and asked for earlier flight which was granted and told middle seat only and I said I shall stick to original flight and my 23D was gone in a minute. Managed to get 23J and at the gate got that magical beep and FA was a little stunned as to why my boarding pass was rejecting. Gate agent came over and asked if I was "So and so" and swapped my boarding pass for 1E! ;)

Flight was OK but the meal got me really baffled and perhaps someone can explain. It was a choice of fruit salad or something that sounded like french toast with blueberry. I chose the latter and it looked nothing like what I expected (and I do not even know what I was expecting) and to be honest it was horrible. Looked like blueberries on the plate with a couple of pieces of toast with something sweet inside. Jam? I have no idea but other than that it was good to be in business class....

I had the french toast on QF510 SYD-BNE on Saturday, and thought it was very nice. The filling is a hazelnut spread, I think.

Thanks. Is that what it is supposed to be? There were 2 different type of sweet taste in there. One in between the toast and the other on the rest of the plate. I think it may have been blueberries or something like it.

Anyway I did not like it and thought the ingredients did not go with one another....

Was described to me as a brioche with berry compote, which is more accurate than French toast.

I quite liked it. Would've been better without the Nutella in the middle though.

Thank you so much AA for the love. My name has just appeared on the Upgrade List for a flight from ELP to DFW. This is the second op-up from Y to F in a week.

I got an op up from Y to PE last week from SYD to NRT....was very happy considering its a night flight. It was my second in about two months. The other was on CX from DBX to HKG.

Im flying BA from BKK to LHR on Tuesday so fingers crossed for that one!!

Had my first on-board op-up yesterday Perth to Kalgoorlie. Had a boarding pass for 4A, but was stopped by a very charming CSM as I boarded. She welcomed me on-board and said that I was now seated in 3A in J. There was only one other pax in J, but Y had space too. I wonder if QF have tweaked the upgrade algorithm?

First op-up since late 2010 last night.

QF557 BNE-SYD. I used the check-in podium and had 23J, but when my card was scanned to board the machine spat out a boarding slip for 1E instead. 1F also remained empty.

Not bad for a very cheap ($109) E class fare.

I was actually tempted to go try and get an ODU but about an hour before boarding ExpertFlyer was showing J9 D9 I9 but Y0 - I decided to take my chances and it worked :)

The computer is smiling on me at the moment. Scored a double for my wife and I last night Syd-BNE. Might have been due to the Amadeus chaos though.

Managed to get something out of the wreck yesterday. Op-up from 23D into 3E on the 767. What may have helped was the flight after mine had been cancelled and my flight ended up delayed ~45 minutes. Delays are not that bad when you know you will be sitting in business class. ;)

Nice. So after running into each other in BNE business lounge my luck has rubbed off on you. ;)

My brother got an op-up from whY to J on QF41 SYD/CGK on a 332 as a SG which was the flight that made him WP.

He also got an op-up on the return on QF42 CGK/SYD on a 333 - his first flight as WP.

Surprising this thread hasn't had airtime for the last few months.

JNB-SYD yesterday on the cheapest Y fare I could grab from Zuji (just after the last flights with F apparently) - I thought I might be in for a nice result when after trying to select a seat in OLCI the website threw up an error. I then tried finishing OLCI without choosing seats and saw a boarding pass for premium economy. Ended up in 30A. Nice especially after having taken up the offer to upgrade the SYD-JNB leg with points a usually non-upgradable fare from Y to J.

It seemed to be a very full flight at least in Y and Y+ - they ran out of some dinner and breakfast options - the FA said they started the trolley service from different ends each time to alternate giving choices to either end, or in his words "make two sets of customers unhappy" :p

Now if I'd been a regular Y traveller who'd splashed out to treat myself to premium economy and then didn't get to have my first choice of meal, I probably wouldn't be impressed. I don't know how many people got an op-up as opposed to being paying customers though.

I got an upop last Friday QF125 BNE-AKL. I had already checked in online so went to the check in desk at BNE to get an express pass and have my passport sighted. The woman behind the desk did sight my passport and the machine spat out another boarding pass which was still 4A.

Then the unusual thing happened she rang someone up then stated my flight, surname and that I was a platinum one. Then she told me I was being regraded. Then printed a new BP for 1C. I have never had an upgrade after a phone call, in the past it has always seemed to happen via computer. And I have to wonder what prompted her to make the phone call? Was there a note on the booking? Why did she state my QFF status surely the person on the other end would have known my status from the flight number and surname. This ticket was my free flight for the groundings last year.

The return flight on Tuesday morning was very full as well. But no luck with an opup on that one.

Anyway I have had a exceptional good run with international opups this year.

Myself, my wife and my daughter were upgraded on QF925 CNS-SYD on 30/09/12. Knew that Y was full but because there were 3 of us very surprised that we got upgraded, did not even realise until we got to the lounge. All very happy.
