The Planespotting/General AV Geek Thread

Spotted what looked very much like a QF 330 doing circuits (!) at AVV yesterday around 845-900am.

Any ideas what it was doing?

Also Saw a largish chopper hovering over AVV at about 1130 (although that may have been a medical chopper waiting landing).

Sorry no pics as I was driving!

This happens quite frequently - I think QF sometimes use AVV for post maintenance checks (happy to be corrected).

Visitor at port macquarie overnight. Apparently had to turn around near Newcastle due to the storm yesterday afternoon.

I was at the Airshow in TSV last Saturday and got quite a few photos of the Neptune above in flight, also a WW2 Hudson and P51 Mustang among others - will post when I've got them downloaded.

Maintenance isn't done on the 330 at Avalon. Any flights that are necessary (and I don't think there are) would be done out of the airfield that did the work.

Circuits would be pilot training. Whilst the vast majority is done in the sim these days, it's likely that there are still some conversion streams that contain an hour of base training. S/O to F/O would be the most probable, but it might be there for any change of seat. It was in my time...but that's a while back.

Think I have a new favourite thread... It might take me a while to get through all 66 odd pages though :)

Here is my contribution. Airforce Two a C-32 in TLL Estonia 2015. Not the best picture but it was as close as I could get.

I see them everytime i land in Brisbane and have never seen them move. Do they ever fly?

Never seen them fly out of BNE but did see it once in DRW. IIRC it was bloody noisy. One of the most spectacular sights I saw in DRW was an AN124 flying low over the city, gear down doing a left base turn for RW29. Didn't have a camera at the ready unfortunately.
