The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

If I book Jetstar from Bali to Sydney on a Classic reward, does anyone know please what Jetstar fare type it gets booked into?

So BNE to HTI was cancelled today. Lowly Bronze with Qantas Club was successful with modest cash and points upgrade for 3pax to J. Of course with cancellation the new flight has us in Y. Fair enough that happens. What’s the recourse for reclaiming the points and $ now we are going Y … hopefully we’re going at all

So I always wonder what is the point of racking up QFF points for Qantas to make it almost impossible for their Bronze QFF members not to be able to redeem Business or First Class seats. In general, I find more availability for business or first class seats in other airlines than in Qantas itself. How ironic.

Well, tge release of Classic Plus rewards is QF's response to that issue and even sometimes can be of value.

Or, vote with your feet and go to the other schenes that give you a better value propisition for your needs.

T&C of Qantas Points Club said Hotel Vouchers/Lounge Pass will be in my account within 21 days of qualifying. I crossed 150k points on 11th June.

Will Qantas credit the vouchers/lounge pass asap if I call? Wanting to make use of 9x Hotel points offer currently
Wondering if there is a way to establish the actual date I reached Points Club? Would have been at least a month ago but haven’t seen any vouchers or lounge passes in my account nor received anything by email.

Just to be sure, whilst you have reached 150,000 points, did all of those points accrue in your current Membership Year?
I'm assuming you know that there are some limitations regarding which points count towards Points Club.
In My Account you should this indicator regarding Points Club - does yours show 150,000 earned towards point Club?

I've definitely reached Points Club:

My question is where are the vouchers? I'm sure in previous years the vouchers would be displayed somewhere in my account but I'm not seeing anything. I understand lounge passes aren't available until after my membership year ends on 31 August but I think I read somewhere that vouchers take 21 days to arrive.

My vouchers are displayed on the https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/my-account/points-club.html
If they are not there, send an email to [email protected]

Complimentary Lounge Invitations will be assigned to the member’s account within two weeks of qualifying for Points Club and will then be available via the Complimentary Invitations Portal.

If this is a requalification (as opposed to first time earning PC), then the new vouchers will be in your account in first month of next FF year.

I requalified in May, but as my FF year ended 31-July, I didn't get the vouchers until about 5th Aug.

Quick question regarding QLink flights booked during the Double SC promotion. My partner now needs to leave to the US earlier so I was going to use the 'divide booking' function on the website and cancel her component. Will this leave my DSC booking intact? Thanks!

Hi,

Trying to do a dummy booking HKG to HEL on Finnair for 2 adults (and also 2 adults + 1 child). For both selections, I am able to see business class rewards availability on the landing page of the multi city search on 16th July.

When I click on it I can only see economy tickets.

I've noticed this only happens to me for Finnair flights, same happens if i search for flights from BKK so I am not sure it's phantom availability. Is this a case where I could call the call centre and they would be able to book it for me?

I suspect there is only 1 seat, do you get further if you try to book for 1 adult?

Hi gang,

So I have been super confused whilst trying to use Qantas club membership last night.

I booked under Cathay which is under one world, however because it does not start with QF, I was refused my qantas points clubs plus lounge access.

Is this normally the case? Because it seems like I always have to loook for QF flights in order to use it, and of course, classic rewards aren’t always available.

Sorry if this was discussed elsewhere previously, it’s just the receptionist, the qantas club member were all confused.

Yes, the rules for Qantas Club membership are that you need to be flying Qantas in economy or premium economy (or Jetstar or I think maybe Emirates under certain conditions) to access a Qantas Club lounge. If flying business or above, you have access to One World lounges.
