The Qantas Singapore Lounge

Told them top stop paying you in Brulee's

LOL, this lounge is actually okay for some flights outside the peak times (e.g when it first opens for 3K / CX departures).

So now we need to find someone else. I would volunteer, but I could be one of the sort of people I would turn away! ;)

I still fly QF, but it is hard to justify to SIN... A number of changes have pushed me towards SQ SIN sectors.

The Brulee's have meant a wider seat is required ;).

(I would blame it on the Brulee's regardless, there is no nutritional info so how is one meant to work out what a serving is, one two or ten).

Well if you keep inhaling them, then you may require a larger seat. :p

Perhaps an upgrade to business class is in order... It is a real pity that there is no more F :(

But let's put that all in a package - heavily tattoed, singlet, bratty kids, parents letting them be bratty in a busy lounge - it tells its own story.
I agree with you.

That sort of behaviour spoils the lounge experience for everyone else.

The lounge menu no longer lists matched wines.

It just stated:

Chicken Laksa

Vegetarian Fried Rice

Also, salinger sparkling has been replaced with a french variety.

The awesome Creme Brulee has been replaced by a green Pandan jelly with coconut milk.

I arrived at 1:30pm to use the EK lounge, and there was a sign saying the lounge was shut and would reopen at 6:00pm. Had to wait for the QF lounge to open at 2:30pm.

The EK lounge has been retimed to match the retiming of the Brisbane flight.

I tried both the laksa and rice on Saturday. The laksa was excellent, although the rice was a bit bland.

French bubbles back in the lounge, QF must have been listening. Or they got the bill for 6 of us visiting 5 lounges looking for the french stuff, and figured it was cheaper to stock it themselves.

I will believe it when I see it...

I think next week is my next SIN lounge visit :)

After a few visits now I think the SIN lounge has really raised the bar in terms of food and drink- doing freshly cooked to order dishes of restaurant quality is a big differentiator from the usual cup-noodle and bane-marie fare you get in J lounges of most airlines.

I would have liked some more quiet/cosy corners than they have allowed for but otherwise it's a big step forward - now to get the 380s back to SIN...

Yes. Agreed.
So let's unbundle it a little.

Tatts alone - fine. Singlet - hmm, not so fine but on its own, I can live with it. Bratty kids - hmm, usually think the kids are having a tanty day - I get them too. Parent ignoring kids bratty behaviour - we'd just move away. But let's put that all in a package - heavily tattoed, singlet, bratty kids, parents letting them be bratty in a busy lounge - it tells its own story.

...and the story might be children with Asperger's, ADHD, or other genuine diagnosed developmental disorder and time of day means medication is wearing off for kids, and parents are sick of being judged as "bad parents" by smug self-satisfied people who don't know how fortunate they are to have beautifully behaved neurotypical kids, and have stopped apologising....

or the story might be bratty kids and parents who don't care.

Actually, our oldest child was so hyper we didn't take him to any kind of restaurant other than Maccas until he was four. We certainly didnt take him into a QP environment until he was around 7. We didn't feel it appropriate to inflict his behaviour on others.

Is it possible to ask for seconds in the Lounge ? Or to ask for one of each (of the two) of the freshly cooked meals ?

In a few words, you can eat as much of whatever they have available in a lounge.
