The Qantas Singapore Lounge

When I was in the Qantas Singapore lounge last month, in a quiet time at around 3pm my family and I were offered seconds by the friendly staff. Then we were asked to return later for "dinner" if we were still hungry.
Very impressed with the staff customer service

Visited the new lounge for the first time earlier in the week. Very impressive. As noted, shower pressure not great, however, no need to wait with plenty of shower rooms.

Went for the cook to order Pork which was delivered to my seat. Wide range of desserts as well - the mango and sago combination was surprisingly good!

But the standout was the staff. Lounge Angels smiling. Highly attentive. Bar staff enthusiastic. Wait staff delivered to seat. QF have raised the bar with SIN. There were also quite a few BA BP's visible!

Well done QF. Now just refurb those 330s...

For me, the SIN design raises 2 points:
* Will a similar design go into MEL and SYD Intnl J - both look quite tired
* Will there be a carbon copy in HKG and possibly no more F lounge with greater economies of scale in only operating one lounge (with perhaps a small private annex for the 14 F pax on QF128)?

whatever they do at HKG following the SIN approach would be a smart move, it would certainly keep CX on it toes to ensure its food offerings are at a high standard

While you have suggested an improvement in the offering for Qantas Club members you have "enhanced" Qantas Platinum further.

The wing/ pier is not that bad :p
They are both quite OK.

The buffet in the restaurant in the Pier First Lounge is always nice. Usually have some sort of roast lamb or chops which are not that readily available in SE Asia.

Of course, a non-QF F lounge then rules out QF Platinums flying on Jetstar, which is exactly what's happened in Singapore.

True, but it's all relative. I'd argue QF platinums are better off with the new "Singapore Lounge" than when they had F lounge to themselves (along with of course F pax & other OWEs). But the real bummer for QF platinums flying on Jetstar in Singapore came, not when they moved to a single lounge, but earlier, when QF stopped morning departures to PER & SYD and therefore didn't open the lounge until 3pm, which meant no useful lounge access at all for about 50% of Jetstar flights (ie those departing before 3:30pm).

I agree that it would be an 'enhancement' for WPs, but can QF justify having a separate first lounge in a foreign port when only max 14 pax will be in F each day? I assume that staff wages, rent, catering/alcohol all add up pretty quickly, and would the number of WPs flying SYD/MEL/BNE make such a lounge economical? HKG no longer sees the QF feed to/from Europe on QF (sadly).

As noted, the other OW offerings in HKG seem to get good reviews (and now the option of EK exists)

It is a First Lounge not a First Class Lounge. Qantas felt it was justified in BKK, SIN and HKG.

Who knows how the partnership with EK is going to go. Perhaps Qantas will return to Europe via Asia again or at least have more flights to/from Asia sometime in the future.

I know it is highly unlikely but you never know what the future holds.

in my opinion food offerings have gone downhill in the QF Singapore lounge in my two visits this past week. The cook to order options were bland and boring and last nights chicken dish had about 3 small pieces of chicken in it with a mound of rice. The creme brulee is gone and replaced with a cough asian coconut pudding type thing which is absolute rubbish in comparison. The other desserts boring also. I was initially so impressed 3 months ago but left feeling a little disappointed in the food this week. Staff were still good.

For us the food in the loung is NOT good as there appears now to be no Western Choices for food unless you want a salad, Nothing that doesnt have Chilli in it hence we notmally head to the EK lounge plus get REAL CHAMPAGNE and runway views and computers and printers :D

yes it is ALL asian, a bit ridiculous. Last night cook to order was a stir fry chicken with rice or beef with noodles. Both pretty dull. The hot food was butter chicken. Wine choices not as good as 3 months back either.

While i enjoy Creme brûlée having it sitting out in a buffet doesn't make it very good. A pudding that isn't best served hot is a much better option.

the creme brulee was being turned over very quickly when I was there and was light years ahead of the current offerings.

Hot or cold. Fresh was my point.

Btw. Not saying it was bad, just that it could've been better.
