The Qantas Singapore Lounge

Aha - is it actually a dedicated space or room off the lounge itself though, or just the additional shower facilities (plus services offered)?

There are dedicated showers (in theory) I believe but no space, you can tell the P1s and Cls as they get escorted in. I have yet to see any P1 rip off his shirt and ask for a pressing LOL

:) Was just wondering the same thing!... I wonder how many shirt pressings and shoe shines they have actually given away. If lounge access on arrival were available for international then I can see an application for it, but probably not so much for departures. On arrival [WP] access is only for Domestic, yes?

FWIW I was in the lounge 6 times last week and while school holidays ending in NSW may have been a factor, it was quite crowded each time. Future visits will be spent alternating between the EK lounge and QF, the EK lounge has the following benefits:

1. Closer to the gate for QF flights
2. Has more cooked to order food options
3. Is never full
4. Has real PCs and a printer
5. Had a good view if your a wing nut

Disadvantages
1. Staff are stiff with their service (not sure I am putting it correctly but you feel awkward at times)
2. Decor wont appeal to a few
3. Power points/charge points via USB are few and far between
4. Dont have the QF Singapore Staff which I believe are the best lounge staff I have met .

You poor disillusioned lounge lizards thinking this is a top notch lounge, food doesn't make a lounge the hole experience does! this lounge does not ever have a place to store luggage, no where to go to get away from the kids or not even cheese and crackers to nibble on. The décor is okay as long as you don't look up and see all the pipe work and ducting running along the ceiling, a let down to the overall superior quality to the upgraded finish in terminal one. There are far better lounges around the world, even in the Auckland business lounge there is more solitude, but certainly Sydney first beats this one hands down. Singapore lounge looks like is has gone the way of the airline, in one word, Budget.

You think that AKL JLounge is superior to the QF SIN Lounge?

Whilst I agree the unfinished piping along the roof seemed a little bit strange, I also know it's considered fashionable for some reason.
The lounge had a whole lot of nice touches IMHO which elevated it beyond standard JLounge, and whilst yes it's no SYD FLounge, the SYD FLounge is QF's flagship lounge.

I would also suggest you should try some of the Admirals Clubs before criticizing QF too much on the QF SIN Lounge.

I am wondering about using this lounge flying J on MH. ( SIN-KUL)

No issues, apart from being in the wrong terminal and the flight wont be on the lounge monitors.

It may takes up to 15mins to get to the gate for the MH flight, but you can easily monitor it with the Changi airport app on your mobile.

I spent about 5 hours in the lounge a couple of weeks ago. Was on the 1am CX flight to HKG, and checked in at about 7pm. The lounge was quite crowded at that time, but once QF52 and 82 have boarded, there's quite a bit more space, and when QF36 left, it was pretty quiet. I'm guessing that the pax for EK355 and 404 are camping out at EK's own lounge, so it's really just the QF6 pax hanging around until 10.

MH depart from T2. Qantas is in T1.

A couple of weeks ago it took me ~10 minutes to get from the Qantas Lounge to MH Golden Lounge and then another 5-10 minutes to gate.

Not that it is relevant but I was in the EK lounge on Saturday night and there were about 8 people in there. Didn't have time to go into Qantas Lounge.

There'll be a few people waiting for the 23:35 AY flight to HEL too. The lounge appeared to start shutting down at 10, with food being packed away and the bar closing. So make sure you're well feed and watered before 10.

Have to say I really like this lounge too. The food is nice (I ate far too many creme brulees during both stopovers). The kiwi savvy was pretty good. Showers excellent (great for a freshen up after the Night Safari). Even when busy it felt spacious and we didn't have any problems finding a seat either visit.

There are cheese platters available on request for the person who was concerned about the lack of cheese. Plenty of charging points. My only criticism would be the limited food options for small kids.

The AY flight leave from the D gates, so the pax tend to use Skyview as the default, I believe. In any case, I think a few satay sticks in Skyview is probably better than the closing and no-food QF lounge, and the average AY pax probably won't arrive at the lounges until 10pm.

I was on the AY flight 4 weeks ago - and chose the QF lounge due to the terrible reviews (on further research probably an isolated terrible review) of the Skyview lounge and the guaranteed access with the kids to the QF lounge (The Finnair invite states "Welcome to DNATA Skyview Lounge located at Level 3 in Terminal 1. This invitation is for 2 persons").

On our way home on Saturday, the couple on the adjacent table were also waiting for the AY flight.

You're right, the AY flight does go from the D gates (D49 a month ago), but it didn't take long to get there from the QF lounge.

So yes, the default lounge is Skyview, but people with kids or who've read the reviews may well prefer the QF lounge... we weren't the only ones heading for the AY gate as the lounge closed around us.

Which reviews? On AFF?

Have you been to the Skyview lounge? Try it out for yourself and make your own review.

Do you prefer it to the QF lounge?
It is much quieter than the Qantas Lounge.

I did a lounge a lounge crawl of the 4 Oneworld lounges a couple of weeks ago and spent most of my time in the Skyview. Hardly any time in the BA lounge and the only reason I stayed in the Qantas lounge that long was another AFFer saw me walking around and we had a chat before I went off to the MH lounge in T2.

Interesting. If I find myself solo in Singapore I might go and have a look at the other lounges. The beauty of the Qantas Lounge is under the published QF access rules, they will accommodate two children (on the way up it was me + 3 kids). On the way back, my wife joined us, and I knew it'd be at the discretion of the lounge staff for access - but they were very accommodating.

It's very busy and we almost sat in the children's area.

The good news for me is that I've enjoyed a creme brûlée. The bad news is that there are none left for the crawl participants in a fortnight. :D
