The Qantas Singapore Lounge

It's great ... until it fills up which is becoming more and more common. Then it's just a zoo.

A zoo with very nice Singapore Slings though!
And when it becomes a zoo I will move to the Emirates lounge. I may have to try a Singapore Sling before I go though.

Edit: Singapore Sling just arrived.

Does anyone know if an SG can access the Emirates Lounge whilst flying on JQ?

Or is it just the QP?

IMHO this is the best lounge I've been in after SYD and MEL F Lounges. It is significantly better than the old QF F Lounge in SIN.
Just as well everyone's experiences are different.

Comparing it to the olf First Lounge is not much of a comparison as that lounge is not that special.

I don't want anyone to fuss over me. I just want normal food and a desktop. I don't need to visit a lounge overcrowded with adults who think their spoilt children do not require any supervision.

I'm more or less in the same boat as well. The new lounge seems quite nice at first, but the fact is, I've spent substantially less time in the lounge after it reopened compared to the old J/F lounges.

I was not a fan of the Emirates lounge to start with but now I end up in there on the way back to Australia.

Spent all of 2 minutes in the Qantas lounge last week before deciding it was time to move. :(

We only use the Sin QF lounge when there is no other option then once EK is open off we go.

We are really not a fan of what is Industrial warehouse trying to be a lounge. Food is better and more choices in EK combined with real champas. As I have said before I want a relaxing lounge environment not a nightclub feel

I think the design works fine. It is just that it is completely overcrowded in the times when most flights leave. Obviously. :p. Then it becomes like an overcrowded warehouse as it is open and all you see are people and more people.

Doesn't get more western than a sandwich!

And a club sandwich at that! Mind you, I'll welcome a good club sandwich any time.

I'm even surprised how it gets crowded. Wasn't there supposed to be a huge SIN capacity backlash against QF, which everyone argued would make this lounge refurbishment all for nought? But of course the EK lounge is also available......

I don't mind the "warehouse" look, but mainly because it doesn't look completely "ghetto" like, say, BA T5 or BKK, where the open, unkempt ceiling really makes the place look like it's an undeveloped warehouse with hastily appointed fittings (like a TV studio). At least QF painted the ceiling fittings. I think it's all a nice colour scheme. And oddly enough, it actually reminds me of Singapore without the whole Chinese cliche (*flame suit on*)....

Admittedly I haven't been there when it's crowded. And having tasted M&C Brut I know what it's like and it's not enough alone to make me move even from Seppelt sparkling. (Neither is DP, which I do not like at all). Sure, get some real Champagne there, OK even put Moet if that cheap, but will I move mountains to get to Moet Brut? No! Taittinger, Bollinger or vintage, on the other hand.... And, of course, I don't mind Asian food at all. Maybe the next time I visit SIN my opinion will change.

That said, this isn't exactly a QF disaster. I'm glad for the refurbished lounge compared to the old one.

How's the old saying go... "each to their own..."

I think we need to put AFF in context. We know we can use the EK lounge if Wp+. OK, on this forum, that is quite a few people. But in terms of people flying QF etc to Australia, that is hardly a dot. My partner is WP but he is too busy working to keep up with all the lounge accessibility etc - it just isn't his thing. He would not be alone. So of course it will get busy.

We now have almost every from the old F lounge piling into this lounge, while only swapping out the BA12/15/16 J and OWS+ pax (assuming everyone goes to their operating airline's lounge).

Used this lounge for the first time last night. Great food, great staff, very good slings and a clean contemporary fit out. It was not too busy and there were no problems getting a seat in the dining area first and then in the lounge chairs. The coconut and mango jelly in the dessert buffet was particularly good.

Which is still a decent number of people.
Also forgetting F on a number of those BA services.

BA have their own lounge now; I'm not entirely sure if they find the QF lounge much more appealing to go to compared to their one (which I had also thought was given a face lift).

Having gone into the BA lounge only 2wks ago - no facelifit to speak of - had been mention of it closing some point late this year for refurb.
I think the only change is to the signage and wifi setup - which uses the same password as the rest of the BA network.

FYI the lounge was quite packed, so there are still a lot of people not in the QF lounge,

Was in the lounge myself last night, very comfortable, friendly staff, delicious coughtails and plenty off space.

Apart from the gentleman who continued to sip his drink and read his book whilst his toddler was screaming to the point of turning purple for about 20 minutes, everything was fine and dandy.

Looking forward to my next trip now, it certainly is a relief after 5 hours on a China Southern flight...

I have another 7.5 hours SIN transit coming up, but think I will again go into Singapore itself for a few hours rather than just squat in the various lounges. The Qantas Singapore Lounge will be my initial visit, mainly to use the internet access to make contact with my Singapore contacts and confirm final arrangements for dinner/drinks. Then upon arriving back at the airport, again the Qantas Singapore Lounge will be my first "point of entry" for a shower. Then I may migrate to the Skyview Lounge as its usually quieter and I will have had all the food I need, as well as being closer to the expected departure gate. I won't have access to Ek lounge so its not an option for me.
