The Qantas Singapore Lounge

I was there yesterday (Monday). Also had the chicken (wasn't impressed), however the braised beef was excellent. Had two Creme Brulee's - they were that good. Staff were very attentive and sought feedback.

One thing though, found the Rooster too strong. I like my booze, but I had to stop after a few mouthfuls as otherwise I wouldn't have made it to the gate.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

Just make the creme brûlée is a permanent feature given the raves it's getting please Red Roo. :)

Was there Sunday night, great improvement on the old lounge. Have to concur re the creme brulee, had to wait for another batch to come out!
Suffered the same problem re the loud "speaker phone" couple, the trimming of the toenails at the same time made us move as well.
Excellent flight home on the 747.

Ekk! Glad I didn't see the trimming of the toenails... the bare feet was bad enough...

oh cmon who doesnt like a bit of toenail in their creme brulee eh?

joking aside, QF loads are looking very strong over the coming month ex MEL at least on the SIN flight, obviously school holidays are helping but they are sold out or close to it in economy on many days in the latter half of the month so not a total failure. There are also many days where J is close to full. It is still early days with the new schedule, don't write them off just yet.

Wonder how long its going to take EK to get fed up with QF WP &+ refugees coming to their lounge to find sanctuary against stuff like the above, and the mobile phone boors I found while in the SIN QP? Or how long QF will bear what I assume are the charges EK make to them when a QF passenger goes into the EK lounge?

I found the SIN QP great to eat in, to get a shower and to socialise, etc, but after that, I got fed up with the wailing kids, the (dare I say!) bogans and general crowding during the evening peak time.

EK lounge was a sanctuary, with champagne to boot. (And closer to the departure gate!)

Just as I thought, oh well, early flight so will just get to airport later. Thanks for the answer :)
I had an early JQ/VF SIN/DPS flight a couple of weeks ago, used my Priority Pass card for Skyview lounge in T1 which is advertised as open 24hrs. Fortunate to come back thru SIN DPS/SIN/MEL last week in the afternoon/evening and enjoyed the new Qantas lounge, massive improvement on old lounge!

Asking a related question. If on an MH flight as a QP member you can access Qantas lounges in KL and HK?
There is no Qantas lounge in KUL and theoretically no access to QF lounge in HKG if on an MH flight.

Only Qantas Gold or Oneworld Sapphire have the luxury of entering the lounge(s) with any Oneworld flight.

Thanks JohnK. Guess I'll have to slum it then. Maybe shopping. :). Status run perhaps?

There are pay-in lounges in both airports.

Not cheap though and I am not sure how much you are prepared to spend to stay away from the masses.

KUL Plaza Premium Lounge costs MYR128 for 2 hours or ~AUD44 at current exchange

HKG Travellers Lounge which is part of the Plaza Premium lounge group costs HKD380 for 2 hours or ~AUD48 at current exchange

I have inspected both those lounges & appear both underwhelming at an interior glance.

e

Thankyou for this info. I'm in KL for 4 hours. Might be worth it!

Interestingly though, I am travelling back to MEL this weekend (from SIN) and it was very easy to get on QF at short notice with a reasonable fare ($775 SGD) using QF out and QF code on EK to come back. EK were slightly cheaper at $760 on same flights, but with 50% miles on EK codes vs 175% miles on QF codes it was a no brainer. By contrast JQ was $800 + luggage, SQ was $1400 I guess they have lots of connecting traffice. One thing, I am glad QF have their code on EK, because I simply won't do QF35 - 10am departure - as it wastes a day. Maybe if it had inseat power I could justify taking the flight by working.

Anyway, quite impressed with my first visit to new lounge. Will have to take a 3K flight out to KL or BKK one evening and enjoy it properly!

I think the Travellers Lounge in HKG is the lounge MH uses for business class customers. I may pay it a quick visit next month to see what it is like.
