I think the this must be related to what someone posted a few pages back, EDI-LHR-MAD(?)-PMI return for $2AUD per SC.Also some very good Intra Europe ones like LON - MAD - BCN.
These do seem to be the cheapest cost per Qantas SC anywhere in the world - I can't see anyone going nuts to get to Lifetime Platinum, but doing a couple of these trips could reduce the remaining SC's/time required to eventually get to Lifetime Gold for someone who is within a few thousand of reaching there. I will be down to less than 5000 SC's needed very shortly and might take the opportunity to do a couple of these to reduce the target a little further - I haven't calculated how many SC's you get for these but will do later.I think the this must be related to what someone posted a few pages back, EDI-LHR-MAD(?)-PMI return for $2AUD per SC.
If you have 278 days spare next year, you can literally get Lifetime Platinum by flying back and forth between EDI and PMI for $150,000 AUD. Cheapest lifetime OWE by a massive margin. I don't think Lifetime platinum has a QF requirement?
Unfortunately I have neither the funds nor the time to attempt such a feat, nor the necessary visa to enter and exit Schengen 278 times in a year, but I challenge somebody with a bit more free time to give it a go!

They changed DFW last year i think. No longer treated as east coast. Iirc its now just 60SC each way to LAS.If you have a bit more money but a bit less sanity, you could do the old BA TP runs but take advantagr of DFW, e.g, DUB-LHR-HEL-JFK-DFW-LAS-DFW-JFK-HEL-LHR-MAD because DFW-LAS-DFW is 200 Status Credits (While DOH-AKL is like 60? Or something lol) because Qantas.
Yes that's right. And 'West Coast' includes Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle & Vancouver.I thought we just agreed a few posts ago that the table was right, the calculator was wronf and DFW-west coast was still 100SC
Go for a weekend to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast in J from Melbourne. Should earn 60 SC's each way. On a DSC that would be 120 SC's each way so you could do one leg in J and the other in Y if you wanted to keep costs low.Looking for some Status Run suggestions (have read this thread and its predecessors). My status year finishes 30/6 and with my booked travel until then, plus 2x50 status point bonuses and 1x50 green tier bonus, I'll be 205 point shy of Plat renewal.
I have some DSC flight credits that I can use, so really only need flights for 105 SCs.
Based in Melbourne. Frequently in Perth.
I'd prefer something I could do as a long weekend away, to make it more than *just* a status run.
Any ideas? Thanks!

If you want to burn a heap of points to earn the SC's then just do what you have suggested. They're all gonna work if your calculations are correct.I'm also considering options for status run between now and the end of Feb.
Based in PQQ and I with one 50 SC gift pending, I need another 118-50=68 SC - I was thinking a weekend trip to Auckland business class using points if my 130,000 points from Amex arrives soon. Otherwise can anyone suggest the best bang per buck for making up these SC?
I was thinking if I did PQQ-SYD economy (7x2), then SYD-MEL business (28x2), return with points, that's 70 SC.
Otherwise PQQ-SYD economy (7x2), then SYD-AKL business (32x2), return with points, thats 78 SC for around the same points spend.
Any other ideas?

If I'm not mistaken, the strategy you outlined is that you are PC/PC+ booking CR seats ? If that is the case, my understanding is that, for the (x2) to happen shouldn't the booking be completed during the DSC window? ACK there are other strategies for booking $ fares outside of the DSC window, but how come CR fares outside of the DSC window? Happy for this post to be moderated as seen fit.I was thinking if I did PQQ-SYD economy (7x2), then SYD-MEL business (28x2), return with points, that's 70 SC.

He's simply talking about return flights I believe. If I'm not mistaken, the strategy you outlined is that you are PC/PC+ booking CR seats ? I think your calcs are off. PQQ-SYD in Y is indeed 7 SC, however I believe SYD-MEL in J is only 18 SC. So a return trip would net you 50 SC total.I was thinking if I did PQQ-SYD economy (7x2), then SYD-MEL business (28x2), return with points, that's 70 SC.
The advantage of PC and CRs is you don’t have the issue of there never being a QF Sale (like the one that just launched) during the DSC booking period. It’s the same number of points regardless, so book what you can, where you can (so long as travel is within the promo period). If I'm not mistaken, the strategy you outlined is that you are PC/PC+ booking CR seats ? That makes sense now. I mistook the (x2) to be DSC.He's simply talking about return flights I believe.
If only it was 2000 bonus SC (as my sleep deprived brain interpreted it to be on initial reading)Edit: oh, I just noticed that PC/PC+ members are being offer bonus points during the current Sale.
