Congratulations to the both of you but are you happy /ecstatic with the extra benefits you will now be getting as P1:?:

I still have no idea what the extra benefits are, other than some warm fuzzy stuff (which I get from a few airlines).

Yeah I get that. My point was about the lunch itself. I read the original invitation as a sign of customer engagement but it *seems* (and I wasn’t there, so it’s just how it reads online) as more of a promotional exercise and soft launch.

I'm sure the AFF15 can speak to that point when they eventually turn up here.

I do trust you like the warm fuzzies as you will soon be getting all that QF can dish out. Well maybe not all as there is still CL above WP1.

I did read there is a physical WP1 benefit. Something about no baggage charges and a lounge upgrade wait list? Can't see those being biggies to a WP1.

Well the original invitation was for lunch and to get details of WP1. To ask some questions and get feedback. It would seem to me Qantas complied with their part of the bargain with generous hospitality laid on. :)

Upgrades are always appreciated, but I only ever travel with carry-on

Hard to say, I fly QF because of company policy, anything extra I get I will be grateful for, a bit more personal service will be nice.

Got to say that what has been reported is somewhat underwhelming, I was close to 3000 SC last year through domestic only flying and with the changes to PG levels lost the drive to go beyond WP requal, nothing has changed that today I am afraid, at least for me.

Just added up the past 12 months flying - just under 6000 SC's earned, only 2250 SC's on QF. Requalified platinum weeks after new membership year, thinking that I am now moving to AA.

I have 54,000 BIS Miles between now and the end of this calendar year, all booked at B or above - so thats 81000 EQP's (I think - if ive muffed it somehow let me know), so an easy qualification for Platinum (OWS) for 2012 on AA. Mix of flying on QF/CX/AA so not any point doing a Plat challenge, but lines me up with 100% bonus for 2012.

Already I have 43,000 BIS Miles booked up until my QF requalification date at the end of May 2012 - again all booked in Premium cabins, so 64,000 EQP's.

I have a PASA booked in June that will requal me as Platinum on QF into 2013, and if travel remains about the same next year as this would probably his 200-300K EQP's on AA by December.

I know some of you guys are well ahead of me in doing this, but I was holding out for P1, but looks like instead i'll go for dual OWE instead.

Matt

Well I've now finished my lunch and read all the posts over the past 3 hours. Interesting but not anything I'll be able to achieve.

My concurrent lunch at Bretts was really nice:

Likewise.

Had QF allowed ATA for WP1s in all QF lounges, I might have reconsidered my decision to go with VA and QF. I never abused ATA and found it very valuable, especially when overseas clients arrived. Now thanks to VA, my clients can again enjoy being met at the airport and given a change to relax and unwind after a long flight. Who will they next look to fly with? QF or the VA group? Especially when they learn that even for the highest tier QF WP1, ATA is not allowed.

Sorry QF and Red Roo but your decision on ATA for WPs and WP1 is very wrong, just like you got domestic priority boarding decision was very wrong for so many years and are only now starting to listen to your customers.

Sorry for the confusion, blame the Shiraz. Based on 1 nov 10 to 31 oct 11 .. So 12 months.

Some folk would have already gained 2700 SC with the squiggle.
Others would have forward bookings through to 31 October that would get them over the line. Or intent to fly, but not yet booked. I wonder how QF will handle these 2 groups.

(And I would have picked the shiraz to go with the spag bol too, lucky b's)

If they're in the Chairman's Lounge, it may be a while before we hear from them (unless the CL has better WIFI than the normal lounge )

So far, this has been tweeted about P1:
"Plat One not a big club, designed for big flyers"
"Break the rules, no bag payment, comp. Epiqure, special service unit. Same benefits as plat"
"P1 also gets insight into commercial inventory for seat selection."
"P1 also monitored travel, ensure members are always looked after."
"Tully: P1's live in our aircraft and lounges. "
"Will look at last 12mths of flights to determine first P1"
"P1 members will be invited next week"
"WP1 to WP soft landing will exist, Mark Newson designed welcome kit."

Earning 3,600 SC per 12 months with 75% of those SC on QF gets you that?

Yes, to be WP1 you need to be a serious QF frequent flyer ... and as a reward, you get no penalties for breaking the baggage allowance rules? Wow! I am sooooo impressed. Any WP1 3,600 SC+ flyer will know the baggage allowance like the back of their hands - and unless they intentionally want/need to be over limit - they won't even use this benefit.

And "insight" to commercial inventory for seat selection? So they learn how their 1A has a different cost to 2A .... again, very impressed

But I shouldn't comment, I am nowhere near WP1, let alone future WP. I'll go back to my naughty corner and delete all my YUPP routing ideas that I was working through to make it to 3,600sc. That to the bin.

Sorry for the confusion, blame the Shiraz. Based on 1 nov 10 to 31 oct 11 .. So 12 months.

I just did the maths, with my BNE - SIN return next week in J ( ), I'll hit 3620SCs for the period 1 Nov to 31 October...

Just by the hair on my chinny, chin, chin... :D

I look forward to any other benefits to be announced - thus far, there doesn't seem to be a quantum leap between WP and WP1... but hopefully more details will be released in due course...

...and as a reward, you get no penalties for breaking the baggage allowance rules...

I suggest the devil is in the details and that it may only apply if flying on QF metal. Gotta wait for QF to publish the WP1 benefits, rules and the relevant T&Cs.
