The QFF CEO event thread (and AFF associated interactions)

I'm now on the train on my way home. Will try to post more informed comment later. The event was impeccably organised and seemed to be enjoyed by all. Simon and Stephanie were engaging and seemed genuinely interested. Both answered questions off the floor and in conversation. Platinum 1 seemed to be a bit of a fizzer.
Overall I had a great afternoon and it was good to match handles to faces.
A big thanks to the AFF community and QFF for organising a pretty unique experience :)

It all seems quite underwhelming. The no excess baggage charge seems a like a benefit of not much benefit. As most frequent fliers travel lightly and platinum already has quite a high baggage allowance. The other benefits seem a bit intangible.

Perhaps they should have called it platinum half instead of platinum one.

If you are doing that amount of flying anyway it would be better to split your travel between two (or more) different FF programs that seems to give much better rewards and flexibility overall.

Well the original invitation was for lunch and to get details of WP1. To ask some questions and get feedback. It would seem to me Qantas complied with their part of the bargain with generous hospitality laid on. :)

And perhaps to have the FF details of lots of forum posters?

Hi guys,

Well it was an excellent lunch and great to meet Neil Perry and Terri from the restaurant. I would like to thank AFF which gave me the chance to enter the competition for an invitation to the lunch. I think thanks should go to Simon Hickey and Stephanie Tully who fielded questions during the lunch which meant they were eating their starter and main course cold. It was also great to meet "Red Roo". He is a formidable character. Beware!

All of the questions from the floor (without notice by the way) were answered pretty well on the spot.

Thanks guys!

EH

I regret sending Red Roo these details now:(. Anyway, apart from a trip to PVG in Dec, I have nothing booked on QF, and for the time being, have directed all personal and family travel to DJ with the current saga going on at QF!

To get to P1, you have to "Tully: P1's live in our aircraft and lounges.", so how often do you get to travel on other airlines????

Which doesn't stand up anyway because someone could do 2/3rds of my flying (time in lounge and plane) and get WP1.

From Virgin feedback that I am getting, VAA seems to have grasped the "customer service concept" that "rules are there to be broken" at Silver, whereas Qantas won't embrace it until PlatinumOne!

Everyone: can we please chill out a little on P1.

On twitter and other mediums, we're limited by the number of characters available in a post, and it's very hard to capture all the salient information, post live, provide context and keep listening for more.

As a consequence, some people have read into the tweets to take them to mean other things, or have got the message incorrect entirely.

Everyone who attended the event is either traveling home from, or having some lounge time before their flights - and i'm sure they'll all post in due course to distill the discussion further and give as full of a picture as they can on P1.

Until that time, can we please let calmer heads prevail - and not take things to mean more than they do.

Thanks to those who enjoyed the tweets and comments coming out. It was a great day enjoyed by all.

After my chat with the Qantas Rockpool food and wine insider I rushed straight home (well staggered ) and bought a few bottles of the very very nice Hochkirch 2009 Pinot Noir served today. A tip for anyone trying to find it - good luck (they had to search for spare bottles to make up my order!)

Also a very big thank you to AFF & QFF - much appreciated and it was great to put faces to the names!

and as a newly confirmed P1 member - I will reserve judgement until the fancy package arrives :p

There is nothing wrong with extrapolating or interpreting what the benefits may be from the information currently provided. I am sure everyone is grateful for the real-time tweets, FB updates and so on from those who attended. FWIW there is nothing fantastic revealed so far. I am sure WP1 is very exclusive but is it worth the three times WP status (3600 v 1200) OR even up to 67.5 times more flying on QF flights (assuming 2,700 SC v 40sc ie min 4 QF flights).
