HA, I heard a rumour we are on the same flight come Saturday?

Sounds a treat :D
The flight destination on Saturday is one I look forward to visiting.
Hope I can complete my research & can make it back from the 'wilds of Patong" by then!
The rain has stopped, so it's time to juice up the jet ski again

Without raising the whole structure (currently two storey, wood Qlder up, brick & plasterboard down) by at least 1.5-2m, the downstairs will never be classified as "habitable" by council guidelines, because it is in a flood plain. I'm just wondering about what we can do to make it easier to clean and so that each flood doesn't result in $100k of building rework. I've got some rough ideas, but don't know if I should go to an architect or builder or engineer ... or who???
Sounds like maybe an architect or town planner??

Ok, that's kind-of what I thought you meant but wasn't sure.

I used to look at relatively recent properties in my area with similar issues/recent renovations that I liked.

You can then typically search council websites for the planning approvals and somewhere in those documents the architects and/or builders are usually listed. Or knock on the owners door (if you're not shy!).

Think it was on here that people were asking about Po Box renewals-received mine today

Ditto. $161 for a small box. Downside of living in a "specified" area.

You could have issues with the council (or neighbours) if you Change the flood plain so that more water goes into someone else's yard. Not really sure what can be done and building isn't a speciality of mine... but good luck with sorting it out.

Yeah, I'm really just trying to think of ways of nicely turning what is now brick , plasterboard & tiles into nice slab and slats, like every other house nearby ... Ambitious, huh? Or maybe crazy??

I'm thinking
- take out the bricks
- louvres that open and close (for shade but to allow air to pass and closable to protect for wind)
- with cement slab

All the above can be washed out.

Which one is the lungfish? :)

The spotty fat one

Considering these folks are going through their 5th flood in a year, I find the comments in poor taste to be frank, smiley or no smiley, the residents on the Mary are doing it hard and unlikely to have the luxury to be able to choose what they eat over the past month and year.
